   About Boldwood

Boldwood is a new band of experienced musicians with a shared love of traditional English dance music.

BECKY PRICE (accordion) played for the Cambridge Morris men and the Rose & Castle of Blisworth, was in Finality Jack for 7 years and has recorded CDs with Blowzabella members Dave Shepherd ("Ashburnham" 2001) and Jon Swayne ("Love and a Bottle" 2005)

NICK GOODE (fiddle) took up folk fiddle at the age of 16 so he could get served in pubs & "meet" women. He gave up his Drama/English teaching career in 2007 to become & professional actor & musician, & can currently be seen in theatres around the country in "The Convicts' Opera" wearing a nice dress.

DANIEL WOLVERSON (fiddle/viola) plays fiddle in Pach Pi, Infamous Grouse and Finnegan's Wok, and hurdy-gurdy in Cyser. He has played and run workshops at Sidmouth, Towersey and Folk Beat.

KATE MORAN (fiddle/viola) recently completed a Masters in violin performance at the RNCM in Manchester. She has played in ceilidh bands since she was small and currently divides her time between Boldwood, freelance classical playing and violin teaching.

TERRY MANN (cittern) is a multi-instrumentalist & composer who has been involved in the folk scene for about 20 years. He was Gas Mark 5's melodeon player & a member of Saxophony & now plays percussion in Zephyrus, sings & plays guitar in a duo (with his wife, fiddle-player Fiona Larcombe) & writes for various ensembles.

David Franks: Walkabouts Verse

Jun 26 2009 6:25 PM

(Hi: enjoyed my visit.)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

The Green Man

May 1 2009 2:53 PM

If you have walked in the heart of the Greenwood
and have bathed in the light of its living force
remember what you have felt;
and whenever you pass a tree
whether it stands alone in a wilderness of human making
or in the depth of woodland,
give a moment of your time to listen to its voice.
For in many parts of the land the trees are dying
only the hearts that know something of the true wisdom can save them. (Anon)

Time to welcome in the Summer, health and happiness.

Si usted ha paseado por el centro del bosque verde
y se ha bañado en la luz de su fuerza viva
recuerde lo que usted ha sentido;

Hi there,
I’m a lead male singer from Treviso, ITALY, and would like to relocate to the UK. I've won many music competitions in Italy. I would like to live in London or in another good location to be able to meet like-minded musicians and to help develop my music relationships in the UK. I am looking for a roommate who has the same interests and can help me. I’m 34, easy going, and open minded. Please let me know if you know any talented musicians in the UK? I am interested in collaborating and starting new and exciting projects where we can all benefit from our mutual talents.

Do you want see what I look like,and listen to my music? Why not go to www. myspace. com/kemjo74 to hear my music! When you enter my site, be sure to listen to my new hit-track "I SWEAR" . It will be released at the beginning of August in Italy, and will be distributed throughout Europe as part of Joy di Maggio’s album, "THE SOUND OF MANIA". Let me know what you think about it.......Thank You!!!
