Am 05./06.06. findet in der Spedition bereits zum zweiten Mal
ein internationales “Bremen One Man Band Festival“
(B:O:M:B II) statt.
Eine One Man Band definiert sich als ein MusikerInn, der auf der Bühne mindestens zwei unterschiedliche Instrumente gleichzeitig spielt.
Verwurzelt in der Tradition der umherziehenden Musikanten und Strassenmusiker und aufgeblüht in der frühen Blues Ära der 20er Jahre, erleben diese Solo-Ensembles in der letzten Dekade eine Rennaisance im Rahmen der Post Punk/DIY Bewegung. One Man Bands entstehen aus den unterschiedlichsten Gründen: mal ist es der Wunsch, die größtmögliche Wirkung mit den minimalsten Mitteln zu erzielen, manchmal ist es einfach mangelnde Teamfähigkeit oder musikalischer Starrsinn. “...No one tells me when to practice and I can play any song I want without having to hope the rest of the band likes it."
Dieses Streben nach maximaler Unabhängigkeit ist Merkmal einer inzwischen weltweit vernetzten Community, die untergründig, aber mit missionarischem Eifer diese extremste Spielform des musikalischen Individualismus vorantreibt. Diesem Phänomen ein Forum zu bieten und zugleich dem Bremer Publikum einen Einblick in das Schaffen ausgewählter Vertreter dieses musikalischen Bewegung zu ermöglichen, hat sich das Bremen One Man Festival zur Aufgabe gemacht. Acht Bands werden an zwei Abenden spielen. Die geographische Herkunft der Akteure reicht von den U.S.A, Italien und England bis Dänemark und Deutschland. Ihre musikalische Spannweite umfasst so unterschiedliche Genres wie Trash Blues, Rock’n’Roll, Country, Rhythm..n..Blues und Gospel.
Im Begleitprogramm wird am Samstag der Dokumentarfilm “One Man In The Band“ des britischen Filmemachers Adam Clitheroe aus dem Jahr 2008 gezeigt. Der Regisseur ist an diesem Abend anwesend.

DIRECTIONS
From main station (Hauptbahnhof) (400 meters to walk):
Leave the station at main exit direction "Stadtmitte, Centrum", turn right immediately, direction to the museum. Pass the museum on it's right side. Go ahead the street "Beim Handelsmuseum". Go straight ahead if the street changes direction and cross the railroad crossing. You come to a parking lot surrounded by a complex of depots. The entrance at the front side of the left wing of the complex leads to the festival.
By car:
(From the south) drive along the "Breitenweg". Avoid entering the elevated road! Pass the main station (Hauptbahnhof) at your right hand. Turn right into the "Bürgermeister-Smidt-Strasse." Follow the street for 120 meter, then turn left and cross the railroad crossing. You come to a parking lot surrounded by a complex of depots. The entrance at the front side of the left wing of the complex leads to the festival. (From the north it's the same but turn LEFT into Bürgermeister-Schmidt-Str. BEFORE you pass the main station)
