About Bombora Creative

"Bombora" is an aboriginal word for a wave that breaks outside the normal surf line.

It also happens to be the title of the first Australian surf instrumental to go number one on the charts way back in 1963, written and performed by The Atlantics.

With that history, it also seemed like the ideal name for an online store that focussed mainly on Australian surf music and surf films. This is it.

Bombora is also a record label. The highly regarded CD/DVD Delightful Rain: A celebration of Australian surf music was its first release. www.myspace.com/delightfulrain.

In recent months the Bombora label has released Morning Sun by Pico, Pictures of the Coast by Tim Gaze & Peter Howe and a live recording of Morning of the Earth.

In November / December 2007 a collection of Bombora's artists, including The Atlantics, Dan Rumour & the Drift, Richard Clapton & The Pigram Brothers played at the Adelaide International Guitar Festival. Pictures from the event are below.

After a long journey from our home planet in the distant Omega Centauri Galaxy, The Del Sonics have arrived on Planet Earth to embark on their "World Domination Imminent" tour! Commencing in Brisbane, Australia, the run of dates will continue until total global power is achieved. The latest and most potent weapon in our arsenal is our new album release “Destination...Planet Rock!”. Eight rolled-gold total psych-out cuts, recorded in May 2009, showcase the cream of this intergalactic instro/prog/surf outfit. Don’t be fooled by the wiggy song names – “(No One Likes A) Smart Arsed Robot”, “Funky Chikisho”, and the epic acid-trip of “Speak Cyborg…Or DIE!” – these are killer rock and roll tracks delivered by a band that’s been a sensation on the live circuit the past year. The engine-room rhythm section of The Big Kahuna (bass) and Krank Daddy (drums) powers like the Starship Enterprise on steroids. Out the front directing traffic on Fender Mustang (and with NASA-grade guitar pedal technology at his feet) is Twang, the one-man tsunami! Sounds like… hmmmm...The Ramones and The Ventures hanging out at Frank Zappa's beach house with John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and The Monkees.
