B.O.M. fest started in 2004 as an indoor event to promote local talent and in the last 5 years developed into a 5 stage outdoor event. The festival has been administrated by volunteers and supported by funding bodies, the local council and local businesses.
Each year we choose the best unsigned talent that have supported our live nights (BOM nights at the Pulse bar in Barnsley) and also listen to the applications which we receive from our artist call which runs from November to March.
We are always looking for established artists, bands and DJs to headline the stages supporting and helping profile the efforts of the some of the best unsigned bands in the U.K.
Some of the bands which have already played BOMfest since 2004 are Senser, Tom Hingley and the lovers, Nik Turner, Nick Harper, 4 day Hombre, Gaia, Sukmunki, Outroads, Hotel Brown, Father, Mishkin, Katus, Lyca Sleep, Xi, The Palms, Jon Gomm, Cuba, Theft of a Doll, Idol Minds, The Thin Kings, Del Fuego, X Rippers, Seventh son, Andy Shades, Hooker Bentley, Lost 45s, Skinboat, Raised by Animals, Superfreak, Azura, Nordgarden, The Baddies, My Device, Kanvas, The Headliners, Kid ID, Kava Kava, Lifescreen, The Delicateers, The Murmurs of Tension, Dead Rabbits, Cara Robinson, Meona Void, Mid Air91, Rook and the Ravens, GU Medicine, CF Bundy, Callus, Geekgirl with DJ sets from Nucleus Roots, Waxfactor, Celt Islam.

crazy not supporting BOMfest.’
Nik Turner (ex Hawkwind sax player) was quoted saying ‘It’s a great thing what BOM are doing and I would be willing to come back and do a sax workshop for BOMfest in the future’.
Senser in 2006 said they were gutted
when they arrived at the site and
‘crowds of people were walking the
other way dripping wet through’.
Senser in 2007 said ‘BOMfest was one
of the best gigs they had done for quite
a while, thoroughly enjoyed coming to
Barnsley and would come back anytime’.

The main stage caters for all genres and profiles the best unsigned bands from all over the UK and beyond. If you would like your banner on the main stage then contact us and we will negotiate.
The S70 Stage has been constantly developing over the last few years and has been dedicated to local bands. Artists have had trouble getting slots at festivals so this stage is dedicated to the regions local talent and gives them the opportunity to experience playing a quality outdoor event.

The Urban Stage has been a popular stage growing from strength to strength every year and has a strong passionate team dedicated to Electro/Breaks/Hip Hop/Ambient/MC styles. We'd really like to play your festival. Nik Turner often guests with us. I used to be in a band called Psycho's Mum. Back To The Planet did their first ever gig supporting The Psychos. We're all still mates. Just a bit of background.
