Bonar started writing and playing his own songs when he was 17. Later he began performing as a solo artist and toured in the UK with other musicians. His first album,'Come Back Blue Skies' is a collection of ten of his songs recorded in 1997. Currently he is recording material for his second album and playing live.

"This fine collection of songs sound like the kind of
seventies 'lost gem' you might discover in some
bohemian backwater thrift store; pastoral and dusted
folk notes interpolating the sort of vibe commandeered
by the likes of Donovan or Cat Stevens.
Recorded in the late nineties, this is a beautiful
debut; brimming with mesmeric imagery, an album which
slowly unravels its historic lineage, delivered with a
fine ear for melody and atmosphere. One is instantly
reminded of Nick Drake's vocal phrasing, conjured
effortlessly over repeated arpeggios and open tuned
guitar arrangements.
Indeed, it's Hutchison's vocals which remain the
central point in this universe, whether they're
irradiating on the breeze of autumnal song, as in the
haunting title track, 'Come Back Blue Skies' or
delivering bitter sweet meditations on love in 'Island
Heart'.
