Winners Announced!
For the 8th consecutive year the SOLD OUT Bondi Short Film Festival went off without a hitch! The rain couldn’t keep the hundreds of die hard film lovers away.
The Bondi Pavilion was packed to the rafters with a buzzing crowd of scenesters and arty film buffs.
The first session had SOLD OUT within a week of the tickets being released and the second session had SOLD OUT well before doors opened.
With intense deliberation between the VIP guest judges, Bruce Beresford (Director of Academy Award winning film "Driving Miss Daisy" and currently directing "Mao’s Last Dancer"), Benjamin Gilmour (Writer/Director of "Son of a Lion", critically acclaimed feature-length docu-drama released in 2008), Serhat Caradee (Writer/Director of "Cedar Boys" due for release in 2009, winner Best Film at inaugural Bondi Short Film Festival 2001), Nell Schofield (Film Critic/Reviewer Showtime Australia), Josh Pomeranz (Managing Director, Spectrum Films) and Philippa Whitfield (Director/Producer, Core3 Entertainment) the night concluded with an award ceremony of the winning films of the following 7 categories:
BEST SCRIPT: Opposites Attract (Written and Directed by: Karen Kong and Matt Seeto Produced by: Andi Spark)
BEST MUSIC: Octopus (Written by Van Badham Directed by Sam Bennetts Produced by Sheridan Bott)
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Change Coming (Written by: Mark Alston, Loosie Craig, Megan Alston and Margaret Alston Directed by: Mark Alston Produced by: Dean Bates)
BEST DESIGN: Octopus (Written by Van Badham Directed by Sam Bennetts Produced by Sheridan Bott)
BEST ACTOR: Anne Looby in Frail (Written and Directed by: Alex Murawski Produced by: Annmaree J Bell)
PEOPLE’S CHOICE: Nine Miles Beautiful (Written by: Robert Braiden Directed by: Marty Moynihan Produced by: Peter Blackburn and Graham Young)
BEST FILM: Frail (Written and Directed by: Alex Murawski Produced by: Annmaree J Bell)
The director of BEST FILM - Frail will receive, amongst other prizes, a flight to North America to the film festival of their choice courtesy of Showtime Australia, $3000.00 in free editing time courtesy of Spectrum Films and a $1000.00 cash prize along with a first look development deal courtesy of Core3 Entertainment.
With thanks again to Core3 Entertainment the winner of BEST ACTOR– Frail’s Anne Looby will receive a role in one of their upcoming 2009 productions.

Bondi Short Film Festival 2008's Friend Space (Top 7)
The world's largest short film competition comes to Sydney! The Sydney segment of the internationally acclaimed 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT will be run from the Blue Mountains as a part of this year's Footbeat Festival. The weekend of 10-12 October promises to be a wild and sleepless weekend for the teams who are challenged to make a movie or music clip, to write, shoot and edit it in just 48 hours.
Filmmakers throughout NSW, including Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Lithgow, Bathurst and the Blue Mountains are invited to compete in the world's oldest and largest timed-film competition. The 48HFP takes place annually in over 70 cities around the world competing to win the title of Best 48 Hour Film of 2008.
The 48HFP can help launch a filmmaking career. 'Myles West', last year's winner in Brisbane, went on to win a swag of awards at the international competition in America, competing against the winners from 50 other cities. It was then screened in the Short Film Corner at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. For more information please contact:
