| Bonfire, Falls was an indie effort shot in May of 2006. We rehearsed for a full week, and then shot on location for two weeks. What set our project aside from most no budget features is our production time. Over the course of six months, the actors, writers, crew, and producers kept a constant dialogue. From the first take to the last, Bonfire's story telling is consistent.
Bonfire, Falls is a rowdy story about good times. But its told in a mature fashion, so even though the content is immature, the finished product is very professional.
Many comedies limit themselves to slapstick and punchlines. Many dramatic features take shit too seriously. Often times the point of storytelling is forgotten. Take it seriously and people will appreciate good humor, when it's the best comedy it can break your heart.
A lot of this storytelling is achieved in the cinematography. The experience and foresight of our crew captured our story in beautiful DV. The sound and light is dead on. Everything is perfect.
Three friends in the last summer after college are subject to change in a town that's never changed. The guys gotta grow up, but its painful and violent to leave behind good times.
The story centers on isolation, in the way that unsocial people become obsessive in personal relationships.
The synopsis:
"I find an incredible sense of security in that nothing is forever. Nothing has ever mattered to me, nothing matters but you my friends."--Rivers
Three best friends Bill, Jackson, and Rivers find little to no difference in the quality of life after college graduation. Their responsible adult lives begin to drive them apart
"...But right now, with this beer, we are celebrating our last rights. This is our bachelor party; this is our last night before we go away to war; our last chance to be young and insane."--Handsome Bill
The Old College House gets cramped for each after Bill's girlfriend Mia moves in. Jackson's old love Gracie and her three year old need a place to stay. And Rivers... has his own problems.
"Less metaphors. More apathy. More thrust."--Action Jackson.
Bonfire is about loyalty to friends, loyalty to loved ones, and how sometimes loyalty to one thing can be detrimental to another.
