BIOGRAPHY
As a freckle-faced twiggy, scuff-kneed six-year old, she stood in front of her school classmates and passionately crooned a Kris Kristofferson song with a startlingly soulful voice, promptly getting sent home because the song had ‘questionable lyrical content.’ If there had been any doubts before then, all further ones were quelled regarding the fate of Bonnie Ste-Croix. With this swift lesson that music was the path to entertaining the masses, making a statement and, as it were, getting an afternoon off with chocolate cake and cartoons; the singer’s dream of becoming a performer was firmly planted in her mind.
Now described as a prolific and introspective writer with the “demonstrated talent it takes to write a hit song.” Billboard World Song Contest, President/Director; Bonnie Ste-Croix is a touring artist with three albums of original work, songs charting on radio, world songwriting winnings, film placement and multiple industry contracts in Canada and the USA. She consistently reels in rave reviews from industry, critics, venues and audiences alike. “Here I Am is easily one of the best albums of 2007, Period. Her voice is very moving in the Sarah McLachlan sense…there’s a confidence in her voice that is very warm, and while she may reveal lyrics that touch on uncertainty and fear, ‘Here I Am’ proves that this is her, on her own path, walking down fearlessly.“ John Book, Music for America.
LIVE PERFORMANCE
It was evident early in her career that Ste-Croix possessed a stage presence that alluded to a comfort born there. While noted as singularly unique, her voice still gained comparisons for arousing sentiment reminiscent of some of the greatest performers to date. "Bonnie's thoughtful, self-penned creations blend contemporary and soul music, delivered in a voice possessing the anguish of Annie Lennox, the passion of Chrissie Hynde, and the tender innocence of Janis Ian." Brenda Whitehall, The Georgia Straight, Vancouver. Her “…immediately recognizable, smoky voice fluctuates between a sensual bluesy Bessie Smith, an assertive country-tinged Mary Chapin Carpenter, and a heartfelt acoustic rocker Sarah McLachlan.” Xtra West.
The combination of her charismatic presence and soulful vocals are widely known for their capacity to hush a rowdy crowd into ‘pin-drop’ silence with the first note. She later seals the deal with the unlikely synthesis of offbeat humour, insight and a “…voice (that) will stop you cold in your tracks. It's one reason she's attracted such devoted local fans, who faithfully attend her gigs…often compared to Jann Arden for her witty humour, interactive and friendly stage presence…Ste-Croix definitely isn't afraid to simultaneously show her intense and comic sides on stage. And the audience falls in love.” F. Hughes. Vancouver Courier.
“Ste-Croix wanders around soul-deep Christine McVie but with a rain and sunshine coast Shari Ulrich-like sensibility.”

ALBUMS
Her first record, Flying High, sold faster than she ever dreamed. Ste-Croix found herself scrambling to keep the CD in stock, gaining mainstream airplay, being signed by Sony in Germany, Switzerland and Austria; on a disc by Valentine Records out of Singapore distributed in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, China and Korea and being courted by labels out of L.A., San Francisco, Vermont and Florida. Summer June, further unleashed her career both in Canada and Internationally; catapulting her to new industry heights including film placement, sponsored video production offers, compilation discs, wide international fan response through web-based efforts, international contest winnings, and regular mainstream radio airplay garnishing critical recognition as a songwriter by audiences and artists alike.
NEW ALBUM: Here I Am
By far her strongest album yet, Here I Am offers a string of profound, yet accessible songs that re-define the Indie tradition and transcend genre boundaries. “Ste-Croix is a talented singer-writer whose latest CD, Here I Am, neatly balances serious pop with a rootsy type of rock. Nicely done.” Tom Harrison, The Province. And while her voice is the obvious seductress, the album portrays equal character significance to her propensity for unique and insightful songwriting. "Produced by Vancouver's Bill Buckingham and featuring some of our best players, this is a rich amalgam of writing styles from a fine singer…with songs like 'Berry Point Road" show loving attention to craft." John P. McLaughlin; The Vancouver Province. “The Gaspé, Québec native possesses the songwriting prowess of storytellers Dar Williams, Shawn Colvin and Tom Waits.” B. Whitehall, Xtra West. As the title might suggest, it is evident with Here I Am that Ste-Croix is claiming her rightful place in the world of music.

"Here I Am is Easily One of The Best Albums of 2007, Period."
"If you've made it through this point in the column so far, you will notice that there's a lot of Canadian music being reviewed. Let's add another by a woman who has been making music since the early 90's, but was unfamiliar to my ears until recently. I will have to say this, the reason by Bonnie Ste. Croix has been around for so long is due to how moving and powerful her music and voice is. Here I Am (self-released) may become one of my favorite albums for a few reasons. Her voice is very moving in the Sarah McLachlan sense, but that was a first impression. As one takes a more intense listen to her music, one gets a better impression of her as a singer, and perhaps as a person. When the album begins with the title track, the listener is off for a ride that is a joy to be a part of. She's a woman who doesn't like to stay around in one musical place at any given time, one song may be awash in lush keyboards, another may have crispy beats sampled and looped while a mandolin and slide guitar dance with each other, other times she may reach for the heartstrings with a country song, as she does in "Stay". Then she'll turn around and head towards the darker depths of electronica in "Another Day", and that's the exception to the rule, most of her music is rootsy and organic Even when she does go electronic or does a song that may display a bit of Pink Floyd's "Welcome To The Machine" in the shadows, her voice remains the same in any texture, sounding comfortable in each one. There's a confidence in her voice that is very warm, and while she may reveal lyrics that touch on uncertainty and fear, Here I Am proves that this is her on her own path, walking down fearlessly." Christmas is the time to think Of all the friends you have made, Of all the feelings you have shared, Of all the love you have given. It keeps that bit of the coming Spring, And brings new hopes for brighter tomorrows, It keeps our inner essence burning, It lets us cope with all life's sorrows, It makes Christmas the warmest day of the year.
