Following on from the limited release of Just Want You To Know in January, Boogaloo Stu releases a storming new single Magnetic Heart on July 28th through Telefunc Records.
With an eye focused on the charts and a tongue firmly planted in his cheek, Stu's dazzling pop persona has fused the pop elements he holds dear to his heart - bouffant-haired glam-rock and sparkly 80’s electro - with a thoroughly modern pop edge to create this dazzling new single, lifted from his current album Enough About You...Let’s Talk About Me.
The past year has found Stu developing and consolidating an international fanbase with gigs and releases as far afield as Russia, North Korea and Japan.
“I’ve been constantly surprised by gigs I’ve played in cities like Moscow, where the audience’s excitement definitely fuels my performance. And it’s definitely still a thrill, and indeed quite strange, to see people in such corners of the world singing along to your own songs.”
In a strange twist of fate, Stu was chosen to present the Eurovision Song Contest on the 24th May, making guest appearances on the BBC's interactive TV coverage of this year's contest. By pressing the red button on their handset, digital TV viewers were able to watch the coverage live, with Stu making special guest appearances throughout the show to bring viewers a bigger Eurovision party experience.
Aside from the single mix, the quirky remix package is a delight - Future Perfect turn the original into a space-age glam-rock anthem; Parsley Sound stretch the original into something quite unexpected - shimmering, inventive and sublime. Manhattan Clique (remixers-par-excellence for Kylie Minogue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Goldfrapp) crank up the pop factor and finally Laz from Superstonic complete the package with some grimy electro beats.
