Upon meeting three years ago through a youth outreach organization in Washington D.C., The Boogie Bots formed as a way to continue advancing each member’s special skills. The founding members; Bryan, Miguel, and Mike wanted to bring something different to the area’s dance community. As a way to bring their community together The Boogie Bots represent different styles, backgrounds, and concepts that can dance as one.

Bryan East: Originally from Parsippany, New Jersey, Bryan “BOOGIEMIND” East is one of the co-founders of The Boogie Bots Crew (top four finalist) on Randy Jackson’s America’s Best Dance Crew Season 2. Bryan was honored to work with choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon, Jesse Lee Santos, Mike Maldonado, and Hi-hat. He has also danced as a Core Freestyle and Commercial Dancer/Choreographer on Culture Shock Washington D.C. dance troupe, specializing in Funk-styles and Bboying. Bryan has had the privilege of opening for Omarion and Marques Houston. He also represents Dawn of a New Age crew (DNA). He has competed in events such as Freestyle Session 10, Brian Green’s House Dance Conference and various contests through out the country. Bryan is also an alumni member of Fr3sh Dance Company NJ, as well as Kelly Mayfield’s modern dance company: Contradiction Dance. He is also involved as a co-artistic director for R.E.S.E.T. ministries in New Jersey; a multi-denominational Christian outreach fellowship group. Bryan believes that dance and education are great ways to constantly give back to the community. If it weren’t for dance, Bryan would not be the person he is today.
Joesar Alva: Joesar has been dancing since he was a little boy. After learning to wave from his father, he slowly taught himself more and learned some of his own tricks. In December 2005, Joesar joined Future Shock DC. Immediately that following February, he continued his training as he auditioned for Culture Shock DC. During his years on the troupe, he's joined other groups such as Capital Funk, Yur Mother, and Boogie Bots.It was not until November 2007 that Joesar realized that dancing is all he wants to do, and decided to pursue it as a career. Since then he's been inspired by many, training intensely, working on his craft and finding his style, choreographing when he can. A couple of his inspirations are Tony Czar and Lyle Beniga just to name a few.Joesar has been featured in The Monsters of Hip Hop Show 2008: The Journey of the Underdogg, as well as Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew Season 2 with the Boogie Bots.
Josh N. Gilmore: Josh is a senior majoring in Film Production at Howard University. Dancing professionally for the past 3 years with Culture Shock Washington DC, Joshua enjoys every aspect of movement and the dance culture. As the current Artistic Director for Howard University’s Vizion Performance Team (3rd place winners of Bustagroove 04) Josh tries to implement his spontaneous and often awkward but funny personality into his choreography. As a member of the Boogie Bots who didn’t appear on the show, Josh believes that all things happen for reason and that the growth of a dancer is ongoing. Other works and performances include Capital Movement Project “Movement of the People” choreographed by LuamKeflezgy, current hip hop dance instructor at DC Dance Collective, 2008 Monsters of Hip Hop Scholarship winner and show finalist, a member of Ur Mother, MPR (My Perfect Rhythm): performed at the East Coast Dance Competition Pre-show 2007, and a current choreographer for U.G.L.Y (a Howard University musical written and directed by Professor Darius Smith)
Karla Garcia: Originally from the DC Metropolitan area, Karla started competing nationally at the age of six. She received most of her training at Fran's Studio of Dance in Oxon Hill, MD. She had the honor of performing with Debbie Allen in "Brothers of the Knight" - a Kennedy Center production, and the 2001 NBA All-Star Game at the MCI Center. Later, she received a scholarship to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she received a BFA in Dance and a minor in Journalism. Karla became dance chair and choreographer for IFA - the International Filipino Association dance team at NYU. During her final year of college, she landed a spot in the Broadway show HOT FEET, a dance musical to the hits of Earth, Wind, and Fire. She has performed at Carival NY and LA with Yussuf Nassir, Jonathan McGill, and Bulletyme; a 2007 Rite Aid Industrial; and she recently shot the latest Lucille Roberts Fitness commercial. She was also a Las Vegas finalist on Fox's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Season 3. This past year, Karla completed 7 months on the National tour of the Broadway hit WICKED. She is represented by Clear Talent Agency and currently resides in New York, teaching and performing. She constantly strives for creative growth, as she aims to combine influences from her technical background with different textures of hip hop dance. =) She believes the art is always evolving, but just like the artist, it should never stray too far away from where it began. Karla is blessed to have a loving, supportive family and thanks God for all the gifts He has given her.
Kimberly Arteche: Kim has been training in Hip-Hop and Traditional Filipino Folk Dance and is currently a core dancer on Culture Shock, Washington, DC, a non-profit youth outreach organization and professional dance company. She has choreographed Hip-Hop and Cultural Dance for the Filipino-American Student Association at UMBC, and donated choreography to the Filipino Cultural Association at UMCP. Kimberley is an alumna and former Artistic Director of Major Definition, the Hip-Hop Dance Troupe at UMBC. Kim has performed with UrMother at shows such as Monsters of Hip Hop Washington DC, Culture Shock DC's East Coast Dance Competition and Pre-Show, and UMCP's FACES. She has also been blessed to travel and perform in Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Rexburg, Idaho.
Mike Arellano: Mike, also known as Magic Mike, has been dancing for about 5 years training professionally with Culture Shock D.C. starting in 2006 and with other crews such as Major Definition from UMBC, Your Mother, and the Boogie Bots as seen on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew Season 2. In March of 2007, Mike performed a group piece called "Movement of the People" choreographed by Luam Keflezgy (Rihanna, Ludacris, Kanye West) at the Capital Movement Project showcase in Washington D.C. Mike has also taught different level classes around the DMV area such as Dance Place, City Dance, youth outreach workshops, and summer camp programs. Mike feels very blessed to have had the opportunity to perform and travel with the Boogie Bots to places such as San Francisco, Texas, Ohio, New Jersey, Trinidad, and Guam and he knows that things will get even better when you have the right mentality, motivation, training, and positive attitude. Mike also believes that every dancer has the capability to inspire and contribute something to the dancing community no matter what style or level of dancing you're at. Mike is also currently attending the University of Maryland - Baltimore County with a concentration in Information Systems and was UMBC Filipino American Student Association's Treasurer in 2006. Besides dancing, Mike likes to watch movies, eat at nice restaurants, drink sweet tea, and sing!
Miguel Almario: Miguel was first introduced to hip hop and urban dance culture during his Senior year of high school through bboying. It was during his Sophomore year of College, he was introduced to Hip Hop choreography. After auditioning and joining Culture Shock D.C., a non-profit youth outreach organization, for 3 years Miguel was able to expand his knowledge of the dance. During his membership with Culture Shock, he was able to train under great dancers and choreographers such as Lyle Beniga, Tony Czar, Jojo Diggs and Joseph Nontanovan. It was there in Culture Shock where Miguel met the future members of the Boogie Bots. Together they auditioned for America's Best Dance Crew Season 2 and made the top 4. Through that experience, Miguel had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Hi-Hat, Roasaro and Napoleon & Tabitha Dumo [Nappy Tabs] as well as perform on stage with the one and only Missy Elliot.
Today, Miguel continues to share his passion for dance by teaching and, more importantly, learning from any and everyone willing to do the same. Miguel hopes to spread his love and passion for hip hop dance culture and instill a sense of community and camaraderie that the dance should bring into others.
Ryan Dalisay: -Ryan grew up in Miami, FL and started dancing in 1998 from watching bboys in the hallways of high school. Right away he fell in love with breakdancing and went home and put the movie "Breakin" on and started practicing in his garage with his two brothers. From then on Ryan's entered countless battles and bboy competitions including Freestyle Session and Evolution, danced for the Orlando Magic, opened for Nick Carter and performed for many local artists and talent shows. He began dancing hip hop choreography around 2001 with Under A Groove Dance Company and moved to Washington DC in 2006 to join Culture Shock DC, where he met the rest of the Boogie Bots. Although Ryan loves traveling and performing, his heart lives in the underground hip hop scene–in the raw cyphers, with the graffiti, mc's, and deejays. You can always catch him at any jam, big or small. Aside from dancing, Ryan expresses his passion and creativity as a professional graphic designer.
