Interests

  • General

I love to take pictures...do it a lot. Please click on the picture to enlarge...OK...you don't have to do that for my picture! I love taking pictures of musicians...they all can look good. Go to the Breakfast With the Blues web site to see a bunch of them! Baseball...the perfect game! The San Francisco Giants...the imperfect team! Music of course see the music section. Like to cook...experimentally. I am looking for test dummies! Oh yes...one important thing here...wine!! Nothing like a good zinfandel!!
  • Music

I have a wide interest in many musical genres. Right now I am focusing on the blues. Favorites in the blues are Freddie King, Tommy Castro, James Harman, Keb' Mo', Earl Hooker and really too many right now to list. Other music loves...Diana Krall, Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, JJ Cale, Linda Ronstadt, Bruce Hornsby, Shane Dwight Blues Band, Cream, Yardbirds, Animals, BuffaloSpringfieldCrosbyStillsNash&Young mish mash and on and on. I enjoyed first hand the fruit of the San Francisco music harvest in the 60's loving the Jefferson Airplane (pre Grace Slick), Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and others. It was a great time for music...but all times are great for music! The Byrds and Lovin' Spoonful also get a nod.
  • Movies

Is there a better movie than Fargo? Usual Suspects? Citizen Kane? Platoon? Blackhawk Down? Wizard of Oz? Full Metal Jacket? Forrest Gump? Have you ever tried to put your top ten movies on a list? I can't seem to get it below 30 movies!;-) These are some that I can watch more than a few times...and then there are others. A new favorite is The Departed!
  • Television

As a generality...TV is abysmal. Sports can be great...at times...some shows are awesome...but in general things are not good on the televised airwaves. Radio is not as good as it can be either. Well...with one new addition now. My wife and I actually will take time out to watch My Name Is Earl and The Office! Go figure!!
  • Books

Authors, authors, authors. Tom Clancy, Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly, George Pelecanos, Michael Crais, Ambrose Bierce, George R.R. Martin. Lots of detective and police procedural stuff...some adventure, lots of WW II and Civil War history, politics, some fantasy (Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series is incredible) and some dabbling in other areas. I always have a book going...sometime two. Love to read!!!
  • Heroes

Is there really such a thing as a hero? Yes...there are heroes...there are many people that have performed selfless deeds for the benefit of others. It is hard to not be emotionally touched by the deaths of our soldiers, police, firefighters etc throughout our history. I sometimes wonder if we have become too cynical and look for the flaws in people...our leaders in particular.

Hey Boogie King....Thanks for hosting our rowdy little contingent of Michael Tracey fans this morning. It was a wonderful interview and the live music they played was off of the hook. Also, thanks for all you do to help and support local musicians and keeping that flame trimmed and burnin' !!!

    Hi BoogieKing Steve,

Maybe you could make a call to the Waterfront Blues Festival and inform them, since they don't seem to know! I've had no luck, for 3 years, trying to get Michael Powers (NY) booked there.
Are they only privy to the Seattle based Powers - or just no funding to fly his Band out there? Also, please let me know where to send his newest works, BLUESIANA BREEZE 1976-2007 (www.MichaelPowers.com) for your collection! Thanks.
