   Book Corner's Blurbs
About me:

Book Corner was established in 1991 as a program of the Friends of the Free Library of Philadelphia, an independent not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for library services for city residents in every neighborhood. We offer an eclectic selection of new, rare, out-of-print, and quality used, publicly donated books. At a savings of 60 to 90% off list price, the stock is renewed daily and consists of a wide variety of books, records, videos, and CDs in all genres. Look for monthly sales offerings on the happenings page.

We are grateful to area readers who donate over 50,000 titles to us each year. In addition to filling our sales shelves, we distribute 10,000 books back to the public each year through our Books for Friends program, which provides free books for organizations and schools; and we recycle roughly 12,000 books annually through Philadelphia's recycling system. Our Emerging Writers Series hosts readings and events, providing a live audience for local writers and poets.

Now the home of Chris' Kids Corner for children's books and story hours, we feature an eclectic stock of fiction, non-fiction, contemporary, classic, out of print, first edition, art, architecture and craft books. Our knowledgeable staff and dedicated volunteers welcome readers to take a break and get lost in a book.

Book Corner is located at 311 North 20th Street (at Wood Street), one block north of the Ben Franklin Parkway, directly behind the Central Library on Logan Square and just five minutes from Routes 95 and 76. 215.567.0527

Who I'd like to meet:

Book Corner is always on the lookout for dedicated, book loving volunteers. Assistance is needed to shelve, sort and price donated books as well as assist with customers and other daily activities. Contact Jonathan to find out more.
