"Book of Maps pound out several routes of math-rock artistry from Portland, Oregon. As a trio of the basic, primal type - guitar, bass, and drums - they concoct pieces that shape-shift, detour, and turn on a note. It's all performed tightly as well, sometimes in the unison of conjunction, or with the three seemingly soloing in cognizance of each other. what seperates Book of Maps from standard math-rock is the use of '70s rock stylings: the prog rock sound of the guitar and the occasional keyboards, the free wheelin nature of solos, and the occasional, near anthemic touch of their riffs. However, the screaming vocals of Christopher Baumann have more affinity with hardcore punk. Most of it is, of course, quite hard, but on the pair of tracks concerning the Queen frontman, "Freddie Mercury Equals Who?" answered later by "Freddie Mercury Equals You, " the music slows down somewhat, even if the notes and drums are still hit as hard. This is the second album from this talented group, and it's worth seeking out. (BA)"

Hey book of maps, TALENT SEARCH! In an effort to find talented Artists Sound Pollution Productions will be offering a recording to any original band or recording artists interested. The deal is simple. Each artist or group will be given a 3 hour block of studio time to record one song at our studio. We will also be featuring the best songs on an upcoming compilation. If you are serious about your music and need a new recording for your myspace page or for promotion you won't find a better deal. Please include your email address in your reply since the myspace email system is not always reliable. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Again this is a serious offer for serious musicians.
Each group will be required to pay $50 in advance to prevent cancellations and to weed out the deadbeats. Not bad considering the normal hourly rate is $65 per hour.
