Boom Orangutan hails from Louisville, KY. An all original band with a Heavy Groove. We formed over the Summer of '06 and have been writing and recording ever since. We all have been busy over the last few months with our "day to day" lives, but that hasn't kept us from jamming. We are currently working on a demo as you can see with the 2 songs on here, which both are roughly mixed, that we just couldn't wait to get something up here for you all to listen to!!!
Boom Orangutan is planning shows as we speak. As more shows are scheduled and confirmed, we will update! So be watching for new show listings soon!!!
Thanks for taking the time to check us out. The more people that hear us, the better! We're not looking to "make it", but just to have a good time and for our friends to come along for the ride!!!
Todd Coffey was born and raised in Louisville. He has played bass and also sang in many bands over the last 16 years. Bands such as Gordon's Iguana, Apollo Strain, Cumloaf (special appearance), Ugly Stick, Algae, HiKru, and Newborn.
Dean Jones has been in Louisville for the latter part of his tenure. He has also played Guitar in many bands around locally such as Ugly Stick, Algae, Newborn and Beetle Destroyer.
Keith Fox, also born and raised in Louisville, has been around as well. His band tenures include; Cumloaf (co-founder), Apollo Strain, Ugly Stick, Newborn and Vo La Tik.
Murdock, new on bass, hails from middle TN. In addition to running a record label in Knoxville in the late 90s, he also played guitar and was co-writer in bands Singsara & the Pause in Denver.
Boom Orangutan would like to thank all of our friends who support our music now and have in the past. All of us have played with some great friends and musicians over the years. If it wasn't for them Boom Orangutan would not exist today.
As you can see we've had ties in the past but truly feel that this is one of the best collaborations that any one of us has been in. The writing and structuring comes almost second nature to us. We can go from total stoner rock to metal up your ass in a split second. You never know what will come next with this band!
So our suggestion to you when you come see us is to expect the unexpected. We want to see as many faces out there in the crowd kicking as much ass as we plan on doing ourselves! So if you feel like getting your rock groove, then come see the Boom!
