Boorbaar would be a contemporary percussion ensemble if such a thing is possible. WE were formed at CalArts by some, to borrow a phrase, “Jedi Rhythm Freaks” down to write “badd-ass percussion music.” Right now we’re writing (and righting) music and making it weirder every rehearsal.
That there music you are hearing is what happened when we decided to try using North Indian rhythmic ideas, learned from studying Tabla, in a different context, along with some adhd, a tad of absurdity, and some good ol’ Banging. (on drums.) They are live performances.
BoorBaar Consists of:
Cory Beers
Mike Robbins
John Wash IV
We would be writing new music that’s not necessarily ALL Indian-influenced, as in, some of it will be West-African-influenced, Though at present, none of it is in the familiar meter of 4/4. It’s rather angular. We like it that way. We nonetheless would dig it if people would dance to it. Irregulr music to dance to, coming soon...
The phenomenon is tunable in that the characteristic sounds and intensities of those sounds depend on the characteristics of the RF energy as delivered... Because the frequency of the sound heard is dependent on the pulse characteristics of the RF energy, it seems possible that this technology could be developed to the point where words could be transmitted to be heard like the spoken word, except that it could only be heard within a person..s head. In one experiment, communication of the words from one to ten using ..speech modulated.. microwave energy was successfully demonstrated. Microphones next to the person experiencing the voice could not pick up these sounds
