Hey there, thanks for checking my site.
My friends call me Bootc ('Boot-see' - thanks to Noodles for the Bootcy Collins homage) and I'm a.k.a Simon Baker.
As a youngster I started out playing music as a bass player and gigging all around the place, recording a few albums and generally learning a lot about the music/entertainment industry. Good fun, hard work, crap returns but exhilarating none the less.
When I do I play bass these days, it's with dance music collective 'Junkbeats' and other friends similar outfits - check out www.junkbeats.com, 20for7, dave basek & jimi polar on myspace. We play live improvised dance music that's kinda nu-jazz/house/funk/electro. . .
Over the last year and a half though, playing music has taken a back seat for me to venture into the world of audio media production. I'll always consider myself a musician although I'm enjoying operating from the 'other side of the glass', producing and promoting the arts, information and culture.
My media production is predominantly radio, ranging from station imaging, promos and ads to program production (currently producing a weekly national network show) and TV commercials. I'm also picking up lots of experience as a copywriter. I was always pretty good at English at school so I guess it's coming in handy now :-) With a formal audio engineering background and a natural ability for creative writing, my passion is for producing more high quality content that's culturally enriching, intelligent and exciting!
I'm based in Byron Bay - Suffolk Park where I work for Bay FM and freelance.
Apart from that, I spend my weekends lazing about at my beach house, catching up with friends, wasting time on the internet and dreaming about the future.
