The Boozehound Gandy Dance started when Bran & Jenna melded their ideas of a vaudeville-type show with a jug band concept. By getting various other involved the project took shape into a Gandy Dance. The cast of characters with their convoluted histories, cornball stories, comedic and tragic songs and ballads bring the most unsuspecting spaces to life as a Hobo Cabaret. So won't you join us for a journey through the kudzu down to where the L&N don't stop no more? A trip through the southern gothic landscapes and over to churchyard? A walk across our city of viaducts looking for the Skunk Ape? A night around a fire with storytelling, guitars, banjos, soupcans, folklore and a kerchief on a stick!
"I saw 'em tonight. A revelation. I had no idea we had something like this here... I was stone cold sober and still loved it. That's saying a lot 'cause not drinking usually makes me really grumpy." -Jack Rentfro
"Since I became a Boozehound Gandy Groupie, I've lost my job, my house and my mind; I've gained the skills to jump trains, a couple of rashes and a high tolerance for trashcan punch. Viva la vie hobo!" - Rebecca, of Knoxville
"Now I am a hoboholic, you people are so damn funny that I choked on a flapjack and someone gave me the hobo manuever. " - Cooter, of White Lightnin' Burlesque
"With songs like “Mamaw’s Grave” and the traditional folk song “Hallelujah I’m a Bum,” it’s obvious the Boozehound Gandy Dance doesn’t take it all too seriously, but prefers to just revel in their own whiskey-fueled, Southern Gothic performances. And it seems to be working." - Chris Buckner, Metropulse
