.. ...................... .. In the Summer of 2009, we 3 people who didn’t know each other that much came together through a <3 of things that can be plugged in and cause hurting in the ear area. .... This happened a few times, when eventually someone moved a stage under us. Some people think that it’s easy to sit under a hot light for not much money. And well, yeah it is. But in the name of honouring those before us who pretend this is the hardest thing on earth, we shall embrace the legacy. .... Also sometimes we hit ‘play’ and ‘record’ together, which puts a colourful bar of noises on a computer. Once these funbars look right, they get all mixed up to be proper to the ears. This normally gets done in a bedroom. Joel has his own room for this, as he’s living large in the plush Inner West. Sometimes it’s at Oscar’s place, which is next door to a bottle shop. It mostly gets done at Oscar’s. .... I don’t know why Back To School is such a great film, but it is. When Downey Jnr gets on his back and screams “do me, do me”, this is pretty much our collectively favourite moment of cinema. .... Occasionally we like to put all our shit in a car and go to places we don't live to press ‘play’ and ‘record’ together. Last time we did that we found a cheap beer in Dan Murphy’s for $35.00 per square thing. And that was for the big cans too. But once we were out of Tally Ho’s, all we had were those French cigarettes that Lennon likes. But they were kinda stale. .... It’s nice to do things yourself, we used to sit behind the NASA-desk in a too-fancy-for-the-likes-of-us studio and say things like “can it be less loudish but more child-like?” Professional knob-twiddlers don’t really like that. So although we’re not packing several DBX compressors, a shiny piano or the piece of ground where some guy from some-90’s-band-that-did-alright stood and recorded a legendary “whoa”, we know what’s what. .... Kat has a nice guitar from Berlin, and also some Hot Cake and delay action, which get used for our non-“whoa” style. Kat also has a little sample device, whose little buttons illuminate in the night. The lights on these buttons are red, so don’t get seen a lot on the stages of Sydney venues, which for some reason, are pretty red-heavy. Oscar also has some samples to go with the regular drums, so he can say to his minimal-techno bro’s back home in NZ that he’s “not losing the electronic edge”. Joel likes to make his voices sound like they’re coming from up on a hill somewhere, he possesses a fancy pedal or 6 to make this happen. Also Kat and Joel like to swap the bass guitar with the guitar-guitar sometimes. .... And this all happens in our haven somewhere in the 2050 postcode of Sydney, which is hell in summer because the air-con is currently broken. ....

    Hey Guys,

I was wondering if you guys wanted to headline a show (Art Verse Music 3) that I'm running? It's on saturday the 21st out in Marrickville and you'd be sharing the stage (floor)  with visual artists set up to make works throughout the night. There's usually about 70 people round but it's a pretty small space. You'd get paid too.

Shoot us an email on Postpaintband@gmail.com if your keen.

    Hey,

Awesome set last night, brought back fond memories of Death to the Apple Gerls on Recovery, minus the backpacks. Thanks again for sharing your amps and backstage comedy. Hopefully we'll get to play together again sometime soon.

Would love to have you guys to headline the next Art Verse Music show - lemme know.

    Peace,
    Bligh.
