Lead singer: Cathy Tudhope - Tuddy’s voice has more than enough punch to stand on its own, so the best that the rest of us can do is to stay the hell out of her way..
Rhythm Guitar and backup vocals: Jan Little - Jan’s finger picking and rhythm is as solid as the bumper on a ’67 Chevy truck. She IS our metronome!
Dobro and acoustic lead guitar: Keith Williams - Settle back and smell the sweetness of the Mississippi Delta rising off of any of Keith’s collection of 6 string museum pieces. He brings the authentic sound as far North as any sane man dares.
Electric Bass: It’s timing and tone starting with Bill Oetjen’s authoritative bottom end, delivered through genuine American Ampeg power, and that’s all you need.
That makes four, and that’s plenty!
Influences
Interpretations of masterpieces by Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Hank Williams, Tracy Chapman, Etta James, and more traditional artists too numerous to name. The ensemble’s approach is to serve the song. That is, we aim to add nothing that takes away from Cathy’s sinewy and sensual delivery.
Well, it’s official now. Our original three members shook hands this week with master Dobro player and lead guitarist Keith Williams. Borealis Blues is no longer a trio. Despite our sworn allegiance to the trio format (each member gets a bigger cut that way!), we are proud to announce that we are opening our mics to Keith’s carefully honed sound, and opening our hearts to Keith’s warm, sensitive friendship. Our sound is now richer, our repertoire deeper, and our rehearsals even more riotous, and risque’ fun than ever.
Originally storming out of the Champlain Islands of Vermont, Borealis Blues is booking events in the Western Vermont/Lake Champlain region. Corporate gigs and special events are especially welcome!
