Influences
Just about anyone who ever played traditional Cajun music, including the Balfa Brothers, Nathan Abshire, Iry Lejeune, Octa Clark, Dennis McGee, Beausoleil, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Marc & Ann Savoy, Balfa Toujours, Charivari, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Jesse Lege, Ed Poullard, Morris Ardoin, Magnolia (Rhode Island), the Back Porch Rockers (Connecticut), and the Swamptones (Upstate NY)
Named after a hard-driving Cajun song called "Bosco Stomp," the Bosco Stompers play traditional Cajun dance music and nothing but. Not bad for five guys who live in New York City (although two of us originally hail from the South). We first jammed together in 2001, then went our separate ways until accordionist Jock Pottle requested a convergence for his wedding reception in September 2003 at Manhattan's Delta Grill restaurant. The Delta Grill invited the band back for numerous return engagements, and we've now played many other NYC venues including the Knitting Factory, the Living Room, the Parkside Lounge, Banjo Jim's, Two Boots, and Performance Space 122. The band appeared in a Mardi Gras segment on "CBS2 News Sunday" in February 2006.
Fiddler Henry Hample moved to Louisiana in August 2007, and the Bosco Stompers stopped performing together. But a raucous reunion show was held at An Beal Bocht Cafe in Riverdale, N.Y., in January 2009, with all five band members plus many guest musicians sitting in. Hopefully more reunions will follow. Meanwhile, please enjoy our recorded songs (a CD project was half-finished at the time of the breakup), and stay tuned for further details.
Hello There!, Just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your musical tastes, styles talents and being part of your network. Stay cool & I hope you enjoy your holidays! ZT
Because of the inspiration of bands like yours and after our attendance at the Balfa camp this year, we are incorporating some Cajun flavors into our set. Maggie just wrote and posted a feminist themed waltz accompanied by Johnny on the accordion. We would appreciate any feedback that you might have to offer.

Thanks so much for the add! Johnny attended the Dewey Balfa camp last April and came home with a new accordion. We're attempting to add a Cajun sound to our set and we are seeking friends like yourself to give us inspiration.
