The Boston Housemusic Coalition began unknowingly in the early spring of 2001, by traveling to New York City going to the renowned underground danceclub "Shelter" to see the legendary resident DJ/Remixer/Producer Timmy Regisford and the many acts and guest DJ's that were scheduled to perform. A few friends and frequent club goers from Boston would travel time-to-time taking trips to the club with the soon to be original members of Boston Housemusic Coalition. They would contact each other by e-mail or telephone and set up ride shares for the famous Bi-monthly "Shelter Run" that would take place, and this is how their e-mail list and Boston Housemusic Coalition began. The idea was brought to life by Dwayne Thompson a former member of the "Almighty Circle Children" a Boston based Professional Housemusic Dance Troupe. The idea was propelled by the lack of Deep House Music nights and venues in Boston, left with "One time" or monthly parties. The goal was to lay a foundation and provide a home that is open to all where they can be introduced to the historical significance as well as being informed about "The Community", "The Culture", "The Love", and "The Music" trying to create longevity in Boston's housemusic scene with its rich underground roots and sound. Five close friends Bob Diesel, Liza Zayas, Betsy Gaston, Sammy Sueskagen and Dwayne collectively pooled their talents and came up with the idea of endorsing every single housemusic event known and promote them all independently for the entire housemusic community without bias. Acting as their own promotional "Street Team", they would obtain flyers, information, send e-mail, telephone and spread the news by word of mouth giving support to the promoters and DJ's. Later they would recruit other friends and enthusiasts to form a solid professional Street Team to push promotional material. Boston Housemusic Coalition was often asked to co-produce events and also act as consultants and hosts for various promoters and parties. While hosting these parties Boston Housemusic Coalition discovered that there were issues with the way that promoters and djs alike were operating some of these parties. Having the know how, an experienced Club/Radio DJ, Bob Diesel, who has been in the music scene in New York City since his early teens and Dwayne Thompson, who has utilized his experience as a professional dancer and promoter in Boston, decided that they should start to model their own ideal parties that would bring back the earlier generations of the housemusic scene and inspire a new generation to experience the vibe that is created when this particular group of people is united for one reason. The music, it is all about the music, no special effects or elaborate interior dressings, just the music.
