Boston Theatre Works (BTW) was founded in 1998 to support new plays and playwrights, to present fresh approaches to classical texts, and to connect with audiences in Boston who are looking for a more hip and cutting edge experience in the theater. Led by a guiding principle to be “unbound by convention, driven toward discovery, engaging new audiences," our onstage programming and our behind-the-scenes work with artists and in the community reflect this vision. Our programming includes a four-production mainstage season at the Boston Center for the Arts, a successful new play development program and an ambitious educational outreach program in Boston’s schools called Stages of Discovery that serves 2,000 middle and high school students each year.
