Groupe issu de la tradition des Backing Band Reggae -auxquels font appel les chanteurs de toute génération- il se compose de cinq musiciens (basse, batterie, guitare, piano et percussions) et se trouve régulièrement enrichi de cuivres. Le groupe est tout aussi capable d'exécuter un morceau de reggae du début des années 70 que la dernière version ragga du moment, avec la même énergie et le même plaisir de jouer. Au point de vue de l’endurance, ce groupe de musiciens a fait ses preuves en jouant parfois jusqu'à trois heures d'affilée sans pause ni changement de plateau! Ainsi, au cours d'une même soirée, Botanical Roots Band peut accompagner un vétéran du reggae sur des rythmiques roots et un jeune artiste en émergence qui vient interpréter ses compositions sur des rythmiques plus actuelles.

Following the strict rules of the Backing Bands –who have traditionnally accompanied singers of every generation so far– Botanical Roots Band is five musicians (bass, drums, guitar, piano and percussions), often rejoined by other percussions and horn players. The Band provides the very same energy and pleasure in playing an old reggae classic of the 70’s as in playing the latest ragga tune. As for endurance, the Band has shown its ability to hold onto the stage, playing sometimes up to three consecutive hours, without a single break or a change whatsoever… That simply means that Botanical Roots Band is ready to play with a reggae « old-timer » on roots rythms and to continue later on with a new-generation emerging singer, who plays his own compositions, on more modern rythms.

Le Botanical Roots Band a vu le jour au début de l’année 2005. Composé de cinq musiciens (dont les plus vieux sont impliqués dans le milieu reggae depuis une quinzaine d'années), le Band a collaboré avec, entre autres, Rico Rodriguez, Mad Lighters, Moonraisers, Colors, Liquid Roots System et Akamassa. Un ou plusieurs cuivres viennent parfois s'ajouter au groupe. Le Band joue en tant que Backing Band, tant pour des chanteurs Suisses ( BenJahman, Jr. Tshaka, P.O.W, Jacka Youth... ) que pour des chanteurs Internationaux tel que Errol Dunkley, Echo Minott ( Jamaïque ) et Uwe Banton ( Allemagne ). Le Botanical Roots Band est ouvert à toute proposition de Backing que cela soit fait par des promoteurs que par les chanteurs ou chanteuses eux-mêmes ! Basé dans le Colors Studio à Neuchâtel en Suisse, le Band est constamment dans la création, et a donc la possibilité de proposer, en plus des collaborations, d'éventuels enregistrements.
2007, Botanical Roots Band est entrain d'enregistrer un album avec BenJahman, sorti prévu fin 2007.

Botanical Roots Band was born in early 2005. Some of its musicians have been into reggae for more than fifteen years, and have worked with Rico Rodriguez, Mad Lighters, Moonraisers, Liquid Roots System, Colors et Akamassa. The Band is five musicians, to whom one or more horn-player/s are frequently added. They play as a backing band for Swiss singers ( such as BenJahman, Jr. Tshaka, P.O.W, Jacka Youth... ) and recently for International singers as well Errol Dunkley, Echo Minott ( Jamaica ) and Uwe Banton ( Germany ). The Band is motivated by any backing session, be it requested by promoters or directly by the singers themselves. Located in The Colors Studio in Neuchâtel in Switzerland in which they constantly create. They have therefore the ability to offer, with their collaboration, optional recording.
2007, Botanical Roots Band is recording an album with BenJahman, out for the end of the year 2007.
