Under the vision and leadership of one of the most sought-after young conductors on the scene today, Michael Butterman, the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra continues in a positive direction. Michael Butterman gained international attention as a diploma laureate in the Prokofiev International Conducting Competition and as a finalist in the prestigious Besançon International Conducting Competition. As the 1999 recipient of the Seiji Ozawa Fellowship, he studied at Tanglewood with Robert Spano, Jorma Panula, and Maestro Ozawa, and shared the podium with Ozawa to lead the season’s opening concert.
Each season the orchestra features great masterpieces, exciting new works and prominent guest artists, including Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Jessye Norman, James Galway, Frederica Von Stade, Sarah Chang and many others. The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra also has a strong commitment to education. Individual members teach classes through the Boulder Arts Academy and, through the Partners in Education program, musicians perform Classroom Concerts that reach over 5,000 Boulder Valley school children each year. The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1958.

A lifetime of learning about many a thing, That doth bring us back to one word to sing, Love.....Love.....Love Is all we will need for the rest of our lives And it has taken all of our lives To realize that it is the essence of this simple word That gives us the courage to go on, The strength to be strong, To conquer our fears, To dry our tears, To hold gently and feel. Oh this love so elusive to some, Yet right in our hearts, We all have the capability To have love, To give love, To receive love, To live in love, To be in love. So why not have love always and forever Wherever we go for the rest of our lives? Fear of love. Yet I say we must conquer this fear, Rise above it and embrace love. So let us go forth in love, Sweet precious love.
