1. What is a bail bond?
A bail bond is a contract between the court, the bail agent, and the defendant’s indemitor, who is someone signing the contract for the release of the defendant. The bail bond guarantess the court that the defendant will attend each and every court appearance required. The indemitor must also guarantee to the bail agent that the defendant will appear at every court appearance as required. If the defendant fails to appear in court when requested, the bail bond company must then return the defendant to court.
2. How long does the booking process take and what happens during it?
Unfortunately, the booking process is generally a long, arduous process. Usually, at the beginning of the booking process the jail runs the arrested person’s name and social security number to check for outstanding warrants in other cities and states. The jail then obtains the arrestee’s finger prints and sends them out (along with pictures, booking number and the charge offense) for comparison and identity verification of the individual. The bail bond amount is determined by a Bail Schedule set for each offense.
3. What is the cost for a bail bond?

On rare occasion, due to unforeseen circumstances, some jurisdictions can take from 12-24 hours to be released. |
