Bowen Biography
Bowen is a band that is based on great songs, vocal harmonies, and killer acoustic and electric guitar parts. At the core of the Bowen sound is Doug and Amy Bowen, a brother and sister duo with vocal harmonies that blend together perfectly because it is in their blood. The songwriting style is Acoustic/singer songwriter music with pop choruses. The lyrics tell stories and delivers meaning, the choruses drive the point home in an unbelievably unforgettable way. Though most of the songs at the core are acoustic songs, many of them have electric guitar accents adding depth and power to the compositions. The Bass is the foundation to the Bowen sound, making the music rich and full. The Piano/Keyboards add counterparts that complete the songs. Bowen is a band unlike any other. They have been making passionate music for many years and they appreciate and respect their audience beyond measure.
…Thanks for listening!
Doug Bowen- Guitar and Vocals---- Doug Bowen is known around the Detroit area as a prolific songwriter, working on songs for himself, other artist and performing in commercials on television and radio. He has played with amazing musicians, and has been heard on numerous radio stations. He has also been acknowledged with a award from the “Song of the Year, sponsors of VH1 Save the Music Foundation” as well as a Directors award from “The Paramount Groups Nashville International Lyric and Songwriting Competition”. He writes music for himself and others as well as produces in his studio in the Detroit area. He has also performed at some of the best venues in Detroit. He currently performs live, records and writes for other musicians when an opportunity that seems "fun" presents itself. His greatest objective is to work with a publishing company and to get his music heard by as many people as possible.
Amy Bowen- Drums and Vocals------ She has the dynamic presence and soulful delivery of a mature and passionate performer. Raised in a somewhat rural setting in Michigan, Amy started showing musical promise at an early age. As a child she started playing the drums, performing occasionally at town gatherings. Her age showed no indication of her advanced sense of timing and rhythm that astonished the adult musicians that surrounded her. Soon after, she started growing as a powerful and talented vocalist. With unbridled ambition, she pursued her dream of releasing her first solo album "Another Lonely Night" in March of 2005. She has also shown promise as a photographer, Model, actress, and dance choreographer. She has returned to the drum set, keeping the beat and singing on current "Bowen" recordings. Regardless of artistic outlet, Amy Bowen holds herself and others to a standard of greatness unmatched by most performers.
Emil Ditrapani- Keyboards and Piano---Born on May 31, 1979. One of Emil's first memories was going to a Billy Joel concert at the age of 5. It was at that moment that he realized that he wanted to play the keyboard....and so it began. Emil was enrolled into some summer music classes and began to study classical music until the age of 16. Within that time period, when he was 12, he met Doug Bowen. They became great friends and musical counterparts. Doug and Emil seemed to have a pattern of writing quality songs. Emil has a talent for writing complicated chord and melody changes and gives them to Doug. He would then, within a week, come back with the finished song including his personal lyrics. This pattern has continued through out the years. It just seems natural.
Steve Phelps-Bass guitar and Vocals ----Steve has been playing music for 7 years in bands such as "Midnight Dream" and "Ruins of Eden". He has attended "The Recording Institute of Detroit" and has over five years of live sound experience, including mixing a live performance for a Guatemalan radio broadcast. Steve is mostly influenced by people like "Bono (U2)" who use their music and celebrity status to bring attention to important causes.
Thanx so much for the friendship request, Bowen Hoping all is well on your side of the world Keep the faith - You rock! Wishing you an awesome weekend ahead ;)
