Hey Yellows,

You should all certainly come to this gig we're putting on. It's FREE BUT YOU MUST WEAR SOME YELLOW AT LEAST SOMEWHERE ON YOU and it's going to be grrrreat! And the exciting bit is......

WE'RE CALLING OUT TO ALL OF YOU TO SUBMIT ARTWORK (2D or 3D) to exhibit on the night / decorate the venue with. If you are a UWE Student in Bristol, hand in work to the SU OFFICE at Bower Ashton or HATTIE'S STUDIO in Bush House by Friday 23rd Nov.

If you are not Bristol-based but want to make something, and come along, then the best thing will be to arrive at the venue early on Monday 26th with your work as we will be setting up.

The band's are amazing and the lineup also includes Alex's band, kotki dwa.

Hope you can make it, and make something for it!

See you there WEAR YELLOW WEAR YELLOW WEAR YELLOW

tom wainwright – everything is mailer daemon

wednesday 16 and thursday 17 may, 8pm

Bristol Old Vic Studio

Wednesday and Thursday sees the return of a familiar face to Bristol Old Vic Studio. Tom Wainwright’s new solo show Everything is Mailer Daemon, comes hot on the heels of the Studio’s Christmas show Jesus Christ It’s Christmas (created by Tom’s company Paper Aeroplane), and follows his previous solo show One.

London, 2007. It hasn’t stopped raining for thirty-nine days. Monday morning:
Mailer is woken by a tornado tearing the front wall of his bedsit clean off. It’s when he encounters his own doppelganger – a sure-fire sign that today is his last – that he suspects he should have stayed in bed. With the Thames rising and Mailer’s ‘daemon’ running amok, time is ticking on this unlikely hero. Loosely based on Dosteyevsky’s The Double, Everything is Mailer Daemon injects a tale of urban insanity with a sense of the ridiculous.

For this new show, Wainwright has collaborated with Sam Halmarack, singer with Bristol’s hottest new band The Master Chaynjis on an original score. You can see The Master Chaynjis at The Flaw Set on Friday 25 May too.

hysteria – inspector sands & stamping ground theatre

friday 18 and saturday 19 may, 8pm
Bristol Old Vic Studio
The world is ending. And it's happening at table 9… A man and a woman are on the most awkward dinner date of their lives. He is an academic whose research into modern day neuroses is threatening his sanity, she is an events manager who's terrified of missing the party. Caught in the middle is their mortified waiter, haunted by visions of global catastrophe.

Bursting with irreverent humour, vivid physicality and visceral sound and lighting,

Hysteria draws the audience into an arresting world where the main course is a fight for survival and a banana can move you to tears. Hysteria is a Winner of a Total Theatre Award. Friday’s performance will be followed by a post-show di

al seed & ben faulks – the endurance

wednesday 9 and thursday 10 may, 8pm

Next up is a real treat – Al Seed, who you may have seen as one half the rather wonderful Hoax Productions has teamed up with acclaimed physical performer Ben Faulks, who was last at the Studio as Jonothan Pram with On/Off. Both Al and Ben are extremely talented performers and this new show is much anticipated.

Two old men haul their broken piano along rusty train tracks. Their energy is spent and the faceless entity that is in pursuit is almost upon them, and yet, round the next bend, maybe…

“Mixing comedy and pathos, these two superb actors took us on a journey of grim determination where the show must go on, at any cost.”
The Scotsman * * * *

the team – particularly in the heartland

friday 11 and saturday 12 may, 8pm

And finally, at the close of the week, we welcome one of the hottest new theatre companies around, New York’s The TEAM. A Fringe First winner, Particularly in the Heartland is a new play about losing sight of America, and trying to fall back in love with it again. Athletic, political, visceral, damn funny and the perfect way to round off your week, we hope you’re as excited about The TEAM as we are. Quite literally not to be missed – we are one of only three UK dates for this show.

Friday’s performance will be followed by a post-show discussion.

“Explosive youthful energy … sheer intelligence … radical theatrical vision…” The Scotsman ****

Technically, you lost, and the awesome foursome won, because we got the winning goal and then 'magically', out of nowhere, there was another winning goal! How does that work?? PS - we were way ahead on goals anyway.
