BoXcar is comprised of five talented individuals from diverse musical backgrounds. Since its inception in the winter of 2007, out of the Southwest Colorado Mountains, BoXcar has been hard at work developing their original, infectious material. BoXcar is made up of close friends as well as musical partners. Each play a unique roll in the band, making the relationship such a tight knit. Their rock/blues/jazz/alt-country-grass sound comes from influences like Bob Schneider, Drive By Truckers, Widespread Panic, Allman Brothers, Uncle Tupelo, Grateful Dead, and Charles Mingus, just to name a few.

There will be a night of bluegrass music at The Henry Strater Theater in the Strater Hotel on Thursday, February 28th. Doors will open at 7:00 with local bluegrass band Rock and Rye starting out the night at 8:00 pm. The multiple award winning band, Greensky Bluegrass will close the night. This group based out of Michigan features one time Durango resident Anders Beck on Dobro. This will be Greensky Bluegass Band’s first performance in Durango. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door as well as in advance at Canyon Music on 2nd Avenue.

Hey Fellas, There's a show coming up that I believe is a must see if you're fan of classic country and bluegrass honky-tonk: Town Mountain out of Asheville, North Carolina at the Abbey Theatre - Sunday, July 22nd. I think that these guys are the real deal and they're my favorite of the young bluegrass bands out there now-a-days. Please try to check them out. You won't be disappointed. -David
