About me: The perfect place to have a gathering of friends or a comfortable date. We are a cocktail lounge and garden in Manhatan's East Village. We just celebrated our 10th Birthday on August 28th. Lots of fun and smart neighborhood regulars and an excellent place to come to meet friends, have a good conversation or pre-dinner cocktail before you go to one of the excellent restaurants near us. Our business hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays 6pm until 4am. Thursday through Sunday 4pm till 4am. We have one of the greatest Happy Hours in New York, 2 for 1 per person on most items till 10pm Monday through Thursday and from 4pm till 8pm on Fridays.
In the Winter Months we feature Readings, Guest DJ's on Tuesdays and Live Acoustic Music as well as being a perfect spot for Birthday Parties and such. If you're interested, please contact us by phone, email or at our great new website Boxcarlounge.com
In the fall/winter season our Garden is heated which makes it very comfortable and toasty in chilly weather as low as 40 degrees.

All of us at PUNK Magazine are looking forward to hanging out at the Boxcar Lounge again very soon. It's as comfortable than our living room.
It's one of the best bars left in the East Village, our home for many years.
And The Boxcar Lounge is one of those precious few places left in this overly commercial world that keeps the spirit of NYC's East Village alive. It's a little sliver of NYC fringe culture (which goes back many decades to the punks, the hippies, the beatniks, and the Bohemians before them) that is still around... So see go see it soon!
