Box Child is a politically active and socially critical band from Boulder, CO. Formed in late 2003; the five-piece hard-rock band confronts social political views with abrasive intelligent lyrics and catchy metal riffs. From the beginning, each member of Box Child was committed to forming a band that addressed various issues of current importance and carry a message to the audience on a platform easily accessible by the current youth culture. The name Box Child is derived from the idea that rampant capitalism is threatening our culture and selling out our children’s future (you may purchase your child in a box, then dispose of it as necessary). Given the current political state of the world and nation, the band has had no shortage of subject material to write about, and most times the response from the audience is overwhelmingly positive.
Box Child’s musical influences are varied from member to member, and cover a scattering of genres from black metal to classical. Consciously, the band strives to create material on the lines of Rage Against the Machine and other politically motivated bands. Most notable influences of each member include [Tool, Muse, Faith No More, R.A.T.M., and The Jesus Lizard]. The result is a sound that satisfies a broad audience and conveys the anger and frustration of the artists toward current political trends.
Currently, Box Child is on the market for management and promotion, as the band seeks to make a career out of communication, and protest, through the creation of music and art. All materials produced so far are recorded, published, and promoted exclusively by the band. The members of the band are as follows:
On June sixth, over twenty Denver musical acts swap songs at the all
night auditory orgy called Denver Does Denver. Played on three stages
between Bar Bar and Old Curtis St (2100 Curtis st.), these two
neighboring venues serve as the sets for promiscuity in sound. Each
band abandons their original material to play a set covering another
Denver band. The expansive lineup includes a wide assortment of
Denver's most adventurous artists, from singer songwriters to
electronic composers, hip hop crews to blues crooners, improvisational
avante gardists to old time country troupes. Witness a massive
intersection of local on local sound at Denver Does Denver.

it happened again
I was stranded on the side of the Road last night,
I was sittin in a thrashed broken down red car.
situation was shitty, but the scene was great Cold mountain tops, crying frogs, howling coyotes. I bet he was singin' a song for me. The night grew cold, the engine was still steamin' hot air beneath the hood.
___Shit how did I end up here..? I thought.
anotha thought, anotha thought I figured, I better make the best of it.
A good old toke or two then three, then alittle sip of orange juice....shit wasn't that bad. _____The radio blowin to shit, so I was jammin to the only radio reception I could get, from my headphones.
Why ...oh why do they always play the slow heart-brokin' songs at a time like this?
A cowboy hick parked along side the road to allow me to use his phone, Cowboys are CooL NoW. for the time being........
_Everytime I'm sittin down havin' a smoke on side of the road of a lonely highway, I'll always be prepared. shit is good! If you got smoke, write a song for the road.
engine shot to hell, tires blowin'-out, vehicle fucked up, but that one song would still make the wait a good-one. I'll be alone, on the side of a highway, listening to a radio, and I'll never be alone, because words keep me company, keep me movin', keep me walkin'. Most of all.. Keep Me chillin'.
Laterz,
