“If you don’t absolutely fall in love with front woman Margot’s sensual, slinky crooning, then you probably don’t enjoy other fine things in life like rainbows or getting a fifty dollar bill back at the gas station when you only gave them a twenty.”—Amanda Mack of the backroom
"Searching... Again I have found it difficult to find musical acts that make any impression on me but I kept on going until I found some bands that were worth my time and worth your time. After filing through a lot of crap I want to thank these bands and all the others I have reviewed so far for keeping my faith in music strong....The first I have found that is very talented is boxViolet from LA (yes it’s LA again...) who to me sounds like a modern mix of Eurythmics and Blondie rolled into one. As soon as I heard the first beat from 'Sad Sad Girl', I knew that I would be hooked into listening to every song boxViolet had to offer and then listening to them again just to hear the musical genius they hold. If anyone deserves worldwide fame then boxViolet are that band. I dare you to tell me these guys aren't talented because you'd be wasting your breath."

"LA’s boxViolet exists in that New Wave machine world. Their music is sexy, poppy, and has just enough of an edge."—Palestra.net
“The band whose underlying theme of sadness and infinite melancholy ooze from the vocals provided by singer Margot Paige seem to want you to not be sad for long as they pair these emotion-inducing lyrics with a backdrop of danceable music and beats provided by Luke Ehret…”—the Couch
"While still a relatively a new band, boxViolet's potential for hugeness is evident in any one of the ten gems on their debut album Cut and Come Again. Fans of Poe, Curve, and Garbage should be eating this album up."—LA Underground
"...Bless Her Soul AND that Blondie-move-over voice.
This girl knocks it out.
Let's see, the writer in me...From Her Pipes:
Notes and Chords Sweet Blasted Cross Sandpaper Bouncing Off A Tub of Syrup and Into my Ears...her talent abounds."—Screenwriter Ashton Williams
"These two (sexy chick singer/guitarist and svelt dude on the drums) played our last ArtWalk and I immediately thought "Holy shit, I want them back!") Great sound, great vibe, great look (stay young, you two) great set - and we are excited to bring them back."—Erik Lund at the Landing Party
"The songs 'Portable' and 'Star Stuff' in particular make me feel like I'm hearing boxViolet for the first time all over again. I am eagerly awaiting the new EP, which is in the process of being recorded and due for release in the next few months. My suggestion: quickly go check this band out if you have not already. Only then can you say, 'I saw them before they were big.'"—Desiree Garcia, IsGoodMusic
Yes, he's is very sweet...our Halloween was pretty fun, I didn't wake up until Girardeau woke me up at 3:30pm!!! I'm still in recovery mode at the moment :)

BOXVIOLET had so much energy last night! maybe it was the Asa Ransom jump start, the rush of the halloween air, or simply the comfort of bv in their own skin, but last night was by far my favorite show. thanks guys i dig the energy and can't wait for the next show!
Sure....we're cool-ish. But not specifically cause we know many Libras. I think you are. And if you (or others) think I am, sweet. If they don't, that's fine too.
(so many birthdays this week for people I know, since Sat the 10th, have already had 4. My older brother's is tomorrow and another friend's is on Sat the 17th (and my parents anniversary is a few days later).
Indeed it is true. I was singing along...when I remembered the lyrics.
Maybe not as energetic as that one guy was for the last 2 songs of your
set. But for Portable, hell yeah. Like I said, one of my faves. To be
playing AND ending on that, you know my ass was getting into that one
and singing EVERY word. And whether I am able to make it to the
[next/release] show or not, you know my answer to your auestion is
yes. I think you should play the Troubadour again if it interests you,
as well as any other shows/venue you can. The more you play, the more
exposure. I know 3 of my close friends I have introduced your music to
love you guys. Too bad though that 1 of the 3 now lives in Nor Cal and
another of the 3 moved to Texas a couple weeks ago. But the 3rd gave
me a hard time that I didn't give her a buzz to go to the show on
Thursday when I let her know the next day I had gone. Hahaha.
You must both know by now how I admire you 2. Margot, I love how courageous you are and how uncontrived you come off on stage. Your eyes don't look like $ or gimmicks, they look like truth. I think you have an unlearnable magic that grows on people, like a love. Both of you seem so natural and right. Luke, stick breaking is cool. One-handed saves are even cooler! I noticed some variation in how you played Sad sad girl (namely the chorus snare triplets), I think it's great. Made the shows feel organic from one to the next. Nice studio btw, I'd love to see it in person sometime! I've noticed alot of parallels but don't want to rant more in this novel. I'd like to PM you soon if you don't mind. I feel compelled to talk with you 2 more. I think we have alot in common. Glad to have met you. Sincerely, Ryan
She probably was serious. She has done that for me before. You mail her the money<---->she mails you the album. That's how I got my 2 copies of the "Sad, sad girl" EP before it sold out and the made to order copy of the "Cut and Come Again" LP. Part of why I like boxViolet/Luke & Margot. They appreciate their fans and treat them well.
