Boy & Bear is good for you.
After performing as Dave Hosking during 2008 the band decided to re-name the project and embrace a new direction and sound of 70's folk rock.
Boy & Bear is a Sydney based band built on the collaboration of three front men of separate bands. The combination of three songwriters has resulted in songs that a reflect a variety of genres and personalities.
In early 2009 Jake Tarasenko (bass), Dave Hosking (lead vocals/guitar), Killian Gavin (vocals/guitars) and Tim Hart (drums/vocals) were brought together under the auspices of a unique partnership that has fostered a celebratory, multi-instrumental blend of folk and alt-country. Crooning vocals lift over tangibly raw, plodding guitar twangs and chugging percussion, subtly reminiscent of 70s folk ballads with an infectious velocity and richness that unveils itself as each song is played. Their sound has often been likened to that of Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes and The Shins.
Having recently won a spot to perform at the prestigious Homebake festival in Sydney in December, the band has garnered well-deserved attention due to the meteoric spread of the bands first two singles "Mexican Mavis" and "The Storm".

Such a powerful track, so many layers and such attention to detail production wise and melodically. We've had our ears on Dave Hosking for a while, great to hear his amazing talents mobilised into this project.
