“An intellectual says a simple thing in a hard way. An artist says a hard thing in a simple way”
-Charles Bukowski-
The studio is an unforgiving mistress. She looks deep into your soul and demands only the exceptional. Broken bodies and minds lay scattered about the room as the imprint of our idols and the music we’re creating, spur us on to reach for the stars. Fuck perfection! … This is music made from our greatest loves & fears with imperfections worn like a uniform.
"I put everything I can into the mulberry of my mind and hope that it is going to ferment and make a decent wine. How that process happens, I'm sorry to tell you I can't describe".
-John Hurt-
Boy Cried Wolf has left the studio … for now! 5 months of our blood sweat and tears have been poured onto tape. Pedro Ferreira, the producer of the Darkness’s multi million selling album ‘Permission to land’ was at the helm to work his magic on our debut album. Encouraged to gargle gravel and play until the tips of our fingers became impervious to pain, we worked like men possessed to record a 10-track album. Our country, blues, Rock & Roll influences can be heard throughout with a spoonful of popular melody embedded in the fabric of our design. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved! We have two tracks off the album up for your listening pleasure. ‘I play my records backwards’ is a blues stomp about a disheartened soul, arriving back to his hometown only to see his loved ones and their homes savaged by ‘progress’. The expansive ‘We all fall down’ hears Paul Rawson tip his hat to Ry Cooder as the rest off us feed off the colonial military groove to deliver a tale of regret. Please feel free to get involved. Comment, attend, listen, deliver and believe in Boy Cried Wolf. Wayne Murray can also be seen playing guitar on tour with the Manic Street Preachers as they promote their new album ‘Journal for plague lovers’.
"Friendship, friendship just the perfect friendship. When all the friendships have been forgot ours will still be hot". -Tom Waits-
Boy Cried Wolf, A ramshackle collective of cowboys and gentleman bringing twists of Country Rock to your better senses. Their dream of one day playing along side a collective of drunken Kinsman and gin soaked Cowgirls are for now on hold until they can sell their souls to the open road and earn their spurs. Started by front man Wayne Murray in the summer of 2005, he was soon joined by legendary guitar player Paul Rawson, Drummer Dan Farrant & Bass player Geoff Laurens. They quickly came together over a Love for the early British Blues boom and country music & the stories therein. An early recording session at producer Mike Hedges (The Cure) Westside studio introduced the guys to the back to basics ideology that typifies their sound. Having already played shows at the prestigious Chicken Stock festival in London with Graham Coxon & at the legendary 100 club as well as a storming set at Glastonbury 2008, the wolf is keeping true to it's promise! Boy Cried Wolf aim for open hearts & minds of the good the bad and the ugly wherever they may be?
