The Menomenator Strikes Back!	Jun 7 2009 9:10 AM In regards to your Local Cut blog....I admire the candor. It's something nobody likes to talk about and yet it's always in the back of my mind. I feel like I'm almost always getting the better end of the stick when I go to a show. It's important that people know about the financial aspects of touring, particularly people who aren't musicians. I don't think it's well known just how difficult the lifestyle is. It's almost never about the money but of course it's going to influence certain decisions. Likewise I don't know if going to shows, buying albums, t-shirts, etc. actually makes a difference. It's hard to believe that you can change the world $10 at a time but I think it would be awfully boring not being able to see a band/musician who is actually doing something unique and being able to thank them just for showing up. Art does still mater to at least a few people. It's one of the few things in our modern world that hasn't completely been turned into a commodity. I only wished more people realized what they are missing out on. It's worth far more to me than I could ever afford to pay. Oh, and I saw Jared Mees and his "grown children" in Spokane last night along with Fin Riggins. Really great show and a really nice guy. Take care.

You had me pretty worried through as I was bracing for yet another tragic musician story involving a vehicle accident, injury, medical bills, etc. I grew up in rural Nevada and it seems everyone knew someone who had hit something large on the road. It can be as bad for you as the animal! Hodgeee seems like quite the character and I'm left wondering what exactly makes someone like this happy assuming he is content with his life. Maybe no one is ever truly happy. Or maybe he has the right idea. I doubt he loses sleep over his carbon footprint or frets over trying to find a wifi hotspot. Perhaps he found you just as fascinating....or maybe just absurd and misguided. Amazing that you got to meet someone like this.
