Bio
Boysterous Sounds is me , Moykal O'Bui:- songwriter, singer, musician and performer (in order of appropriateness of claim to such notions).I have been making music since 1986. In the beginning it was just me an instrument and a tape recorder. Over the years I have acquired a bit more equipment and been lucky enough to play with some amazing musicians, some of whom I have remained friends with! These include Keiron Phelan, Brendan Stephens, Pat Rowles, Colin Mutimer, Mark Spall, Sheila Butter, Mark Thorne and Susan Wright. There have also been some amazing voices that have graced recordings and live shows. These include Maria, Tony, Graham and Marianne. I was involved in running acoustic gigs in the past at the Half Way Crazy Club. More recently I have started running nights called Top Of The Horse at the Horse Bar in Waterloo. Over the years I have done music under different disguises. My current projects include Moykal O'Bui, Boycey and Fluxhead. Boysterous Sounds has released recordings by other acts too including Tony Boyce and an album of cover versions by various artists of the 1996 debut CD "Suspend Your Disbelief (S.Y.D)". Please check the page for the latest recordings and live appearances... -

Less Than A Week Until Turntable Revolution Night @ Horse Howdi Hope this finds you all well. I wanted to give you a final reminder about the next gig which is a 5 days away now. It's another Bank Holiday Monday so what better way to shake off those back to work blues with a blast of indie-pop 'n' politics? The night is being put together in association with Turntable Revolution's head honcho - Rupert Cook, as he marks a special milestone... Headline act Colour Me Wednesday are a four-piece band who mostly live in Uxbridge. Straight outta Uxbridge - Jangle-punk guitar with pop and ska influences. They've been together for about 5 years (with a recent line-up change) and have released an EP and a couple of sampler CDs, recording the long-awaited album right now, from home which will be out mid-May 2013 on Discount Horse Records. They are refreshingly honest, unpretentious and make a fine blend of quirky jangly guitar-pop. They will be making a rare appearance in acoustic mode on the night This is what they look and usually sound like in action:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNbecysMDpo The Sunbathers are an indiepop duo from the East Midlands who write songs about love and the seaside. Reminiscent of the Marine Girls. They make a charming whimsical acoustic duo sound set to warm your hearts. All of the loveliness of Trixie's and Young Marble Giants with added melodica solos and songs inspired by the British railway network and the seaside. Here is a clip of them in live action last year:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0yXJ8Kwz3c Apple Rabbits is the one-man eclectic soundscape project of Jay Fisher. Jay was born in Hammersmith but moved out to East Anglia where he spent his childhood until he came back to London almost 25 years ago and is now base in Kilburn. He has been making music now for the past three decades. He started with electronic music before moving into singing and songwriting in 1987 due to not being able to find a singer for the band he was in at the time. He signed to Mauve Records in the early ninties (along with Horse favourite Rafa Russo) and released his debut album "Velveteen Ear" in 1994, swiftly followed by his "You See Day" EP. Jay then formed Canteen with Paul Castle and Dug Wolfsohn in 1995. They released several singles on small dance labels before they drifted off to do their own things in about 2002, which is when Jay started writing for what became Apple Rabbits. The first album, King Of Anglia, came out as a download only release in 2008, followed by Kilburn State in 2009. Both have been be re-released in the last couple of years. As well as Apple Rabbits, Jay has collaborated with Alvine Spetz from Full English Breakfast (of Scratchy Records fame), on his aptly names, Kilburn State Records label, under the name J.B. Presley. Apple Rabbits will appear tonight as a solo acoustic performance and are something to behold with Jay's sultry captivating vocals and intuitive guitar playing. Wonderfully low-key and humble, this will be a rare treat as he does not make it out of the studio very often. Here is a clip for one of their tunes:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VTt31TsGoI O'Bui & Thorne will return with a brief preview of their latest project which will kick off the evening in fitting style. Here's a clip featuring them in action with Boycey:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y883PMWj4U Hope to see you there to enjoy a fine mix of indie acoustic pop, jangly DJing and a quiz thrown in! Cheers Moyk PS:- If you want off the list of runners, please reply with "I want off the list" as the subject, and you will become a non-runner...!

Less Than Month Until Turntable Revolution Night @ Horse Beat the post-Bank Holiday blues with a blast of indie-pop 'n' politics hosted by Rupert of the Turntable Revolution blog and myself.
