boy without god
And now, the origin of this alterego: one day, our hero was riding the train to his jesuit university when he spotted a pretty blonde woman on the same train, dressed elegantly in all black. She disembarked at his stop and approached him, asking directions to a hall on campus in a thick italian accent. Always the good samaritan (and inept giver of directions), he offered to walk her there. On the way they passed by a seminary and she asked him, "is that a church?" At the time, the boy did not know what this building was, and admitted that, not being religous, he did not frequent the religious buildings on campus. They shared a joke about a non-believer who would attend a catholic school.
Finally, they arrived at her destination. Late, she began to run inside, calling back over her shoulder: "thank you, thank you, boy without god!"
At that moment the boy resolved that when he did have a solo project, it would be called Boy Without God.
hey gabe! haven't seen you in a while, yet we only live a couple of buildings down from eachother... anyway, i'm definitely coming to zuzu on the 14th for your show.
I would like to formerly invite you to a collective. There a few people in it at present. Some are Brasilians, some Canadians, some Brits, Scots, and even an American. I am not extending this invitation to anyone... in fact, there should probably be around six places—as the six song limit would seem to predict—at least for now, in terms of formalities, etc. The idea would be that all in “the collective” get a song up… and then let the juxtaposition madness begin!
Right now, in the collection, sit Sean Mugan (myself, but a.k.a. "Sidecar Rider"); a guy that used to be in "Belle and Sebastian," called Murray, who plays a wicked violin; some guy I randomly invited called "Boy without God", from Boston... who seems interesting; and "Stagger Lee," who is a good friend of mine, living out West (B.C.) and fresh off the "trying to get a big label grab…." now trying to be more himself...
That leaves 2 places in the collective. I'd like to invite you first, because you are my hero and you play a wicked cello and other assorted things.
Then, if you accept, I was thinking of Paul Linklater, because he is my hero and has wicked production skills... but maybe you have some other ideas...
Basically this is a chance to have low maintenance fun by making some weird collective for no apparent reason that costs you nothing but could be cool.
So... if you're in (have a listen to the top few friends on this page to have an idea of what kind of musicians are in the collective—though this page is only a few days old in truth, and the songs up are fairly spontaneous at present) and then, if you're in, send me a song (mp3) and a photo, and I'll simply put your song up in my space, add your name to the roster... and wait to see what happens.
Send song (could be weird experiment nonsense song) and Pic to: roadapple@terra.com.br
Hope you join up Don Kerr, that would really make my day,
