Presently I am presenting my music as a duo. My new partner is Jane Berry who plays mandolin and djimbae. She completely gets my music, the rhythms, the stops and starts, the feelings behind the words, and I am thrilled to have her on stage with me!! Our music is folk, country-blues, and slightly alternative at times.
Influences
Everyone I've ever heard from the womb on................... but if I had to choose a favorite and you really care to know it would be.........Engelbert Humperdinck.........I'm serious!
Sounds Like
according to my friend Amy............I sound like melted butter
I like that explanation best I think!
Brenda Panneton, born and raised in New England, and a recent transplant to the San Diego area just can’t be pigeon-holed into any one style. Some say she’s a little Stevie Nicks, others say a little Joan Baez, while still others say she’s some country singer they just can’t recall the name of. Her voice is sweet and sexy, earthy and mellow, playful and meaningful. Her songs are an honest telling of everyday dealings with relationships but always leaving you hopeful and believing in the power of love, the power of faith. Though she just can’t seem to get away from the minor chords (she’s a little moody) her melodies somehow remain playful while telling a very personal tale. Musical influences in her life have been Linda Rondstadt, Seals and Crofts, Toni Braxton, Wynonna Judd, and Sheryl Crow among many, many others. She began playing out at open mics back in New England and then picked it up again out here. She is now opening for other San Diego acoustic artists at places such as Hot Java Cafe and Cosmos Coffeehouse and has been asked to perform at the Acoustic Alliance Showcase being held at Cane’s in Pacific Beach. It is her goal to touch people with her music, to make them feel and make them think. She wants to keep writing, to hopefully collaborate with other artists, perhaps sell a song or two, and to keep on singing because it brings her such great joy.
