Born in July of 1979, Billy grew up in Metro Detroit, the youngest son of Theodore "Flip" Jackson, a Saxophonist of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. "Flip" was also well-known for writing Arrangements for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and several Motown Recording Artists. In his youth Billy was surrounded by Music legends such as Marcus Belgrave, Martha Reeves, and Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations, to name a few. His first performance was at the age of 5, when he jumped on his parents' king size bed and Sang "New York, New York" to his family's surprise. He continued these "after-dinner guerilla performances" till he started playing the Bass Guitar at age 16. Although, it wasn't until he picked up an Acoustic Guitar that he found his own Music Identity. With the ability to Compose and Arrange Music the way he had Inherited, he began his plight. He has been a Singer/Songwriter ever since, working his way from the "Campfire Circuit", to Open-Mic nights, Coffee Houses and Seedy Local Bars. Inspired by Diverse Musical influences ranging from Ray Charles and Etta James, to Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Bjork and Joanna Newsom, he has developed a Unique and Eclectic Style. Over the past several years he has been playing his Often-Changing, Original Compositions and Arrangements with a Jazz Trio/Quartet. More recently he has been performing Solo Acoustic shows across Michigan, in upstate New York, throughout the Southwest, the West Coast, and has moved to Live and Perform at his resting place in Brooklyn, NY. He continues to Perform across the Midwest and works as a Producer for his Production Company, "Big Gig Productions", who has been host to the famed Jimmy Haslip as well as many others. Billy moved to Brooklyn to Develop Collaborations and Explore Venues in which to Showcase his Unique and Evolving Musical Style.

I'm happy to announce that my new album "Songs From The Films Of David Lynch" is out now.
"Truly unsettling and perplexingly brilliant... testament to both the quality of Lynch’s soundtracks and Truax’s talents" - The Skinny
"Truax is paying homage to a kindred spirit with this album. It's the best kind of tribute – affectionate and respectful, but with its own quirks and imaginative leaps and its own distinct identity." -The Scotsman
Just wanted to touch base with you to see how things are going. In mid May 440MUSIC.COM will launch a new radio station dedicated to Hard Rock and Metal Bands. We've never been able to quite pin down exactly what it is that The Hunter Gracchus do, which is a wonderful thing. A shifting unit with Syed Kamran Ali, Fiona Marshall and Jon Marshall at the core, they have recently settled into a fairly stable unit of six, but it's hard to know how long that'll last. Still, while it does, it's producing all manner of magical and highly unexpected performances. The one captured here was recorded at the band's practice room cum gig space, Fagin's Hideout/The Furniture Makers and is a less blistering freakout than some of their recent output, preferring to quietly explore every nook of tonal space. It simmers rather than erupts and, the longer you become immersed in it, the less aware you become of the passage of time. It's a recording that feels like it should go on forever and, when it does come to a close, the silence is shocking. In a time when it's all too easy for a group of improvisers to just go full-tilt in some euphoric pursuit, the Hunter Gracchus provides us with a glowing alternative that draws us slowly in and drowns our senses. This is truly awesome.
Peeesseye I Woke Up and Drank a Bottle of Cheap Kojak CDR
Peeesseye made the scene at Dylan Nyoukis's Colour Out of Space festival last summer and hopped over to Manchester to play a show at the Town Hall Tavern, the recording of which forms the content of this incredible slab of dense droning harmonium, scraping, buzzing, subtly soloing guitar and pulse-free, scatter-drumming. We can't recommend this enough. Limited to 80 copies.
This beautiful super-heavyweight LP, which comes packaged in a sweet full-colour sleeve reunites the UK's premier free drummer Alex Neilson, who's played, amongst others, with Motor Ghost, Directing Hand, Trembling Bells, Tight Meat Duo, Josephine Foster, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Jandek, MV&EE, Richard Youngs, Baby Dee and Alastair Galbraith, with Nmperign member Greg Kelley, whose reinvention of the trumpet is as crucial now as Anthony Braxton's reinvention of the sax was 30 years ago. A screeching, soaring, scattergun array of noises come maniacally out of Greg's horn, unlike anything we've ever heard and, with the addition of random stabs of electronics, he successfully straddles no wave, concrete and free jazz in a way that makes those genres seem like trite pigeonholes.
hey again, we feel bad sending these but we have to tell you about some new updates. we have remastered all our albums and we have a new album, basically bsides, called rearranging the furniture. it has a cover of arcade fire's rebellion if you would like to check that out. anyway, head to our myspace for free download information. let us know what you think even if you don't think anything of it.
thanks,
