Bio
Brad Linde Ensemble is a jazz repertory group in the Washington D.C. metro area. The ensemble performs in the sextet, octet and nonet format, presenting the music of the 1950s bebop era with focus on the composers Gigi Gryce, Tadd Dameron, Elmo Hope, Duke Ellington, Freddie Redd and Barry Harris. Each performance features musicians from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC and contains an educational element designed to educate the audience to foster a deeper appreciation for jazz music. Programs are designed to present the repertoire of related composers, style, or important recordings and include program notes detailing the history and impact of the musicians and works. Previous performances have included the music of Charles Mingus, Miles Davis’s “Birth of the Cool,” the Blue Note recordings of Freddie Redd, Lennie Tristano and Lee Konitz, and several performances of the bebop composers of the 1950s.
