    Campaign Against Illegal Guns

There is a growing awareness that too little has been done to combat illegal gun trafficking. Because of weak gun laws at the federal and state level and the NRA's recent efforts to make them even weaker, it is simply too easy for gun traffickers to arm dangerous criminals.

Yet there are many reasonable steps that could be taken to dry up the illegal gun market. As always, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If we make it harder for criminals to get guns, there will be fewer gun violence victims killed or injured. We have a sensible 3 point plan to dry up the illegal gun market:

    1. Strengthen law enforcement tools to crack down on corrupt gun dealers and curb Illegal Gun Trafficking.
    2. Extend Brady background checks to all gun sales.
    3. Stop large-volume gun sales that supply traffickers.

Spotlight Topic: The Gunshow Loophole

PROBLEM: The Brady Law requires criminal background checks of gun buyers at federally licensed gun dealers, but since unlicensed sellers are not required to do background checks, this loophole causes particular problems at gun shows which give these unlicensed sellers a guaranteed venue. In most states convicted felons, domestic violence abusers, and those who are dangerously mentally ill can walk into any gun show and buy weapons from unlicensed sellers, who operate week-to-week with no established place of business, without being stopped, no questions asked.

GET ACTIVE: Click here to join thousands of others who are calling on Congress to require Brady criminal background checks on all gun sales, including closing the gun show loophole. You can also join a Million Mom March Chapter; Click here to get involved locally.

Our national policy should be: no background check, no gun, no excuses.

Handguns are only good for criminals, cops, and the paranoid.

Cops are the only ones who "need" them. The rest of the handguns in this country are superfluous.

Thank you so much for being some of the only folk who are raising their voices about the epidemic of ego that is the so-called "right" to bear handguns.

Bless you all a hundred times, and thanks for the add.

most countries that have strong gun control laws and enforcement also have low violent crime levels... japan, china, korea, most western european countries, etc... we can and should do better, don't give up!
