Brainstorm is unlike any other comic shop or video store in Chicago. Since the day we opened on October 1st, 2003, we have done everything we can to break the mold of the traditional comic shop and video rental store. And I think we've done a pretty awesome job so far.
First of all, and I stress this to everyone, Brainstorm is a GEEK SAFE ZONE! By that I mean you can come in and you don't have to feel like anyone is looking at you weird. Those of you who have been with us can vouch for that...those of you who don't know us yet, come into the store and see for yourself.
If you're a comic geek and you want to debate the long term effects of the DC Crisis or the Marvel Civil War or the Wildstorm relaunch of WildCATS and Gen13...great!
If you're a film buff and you want to talk about the best of the 60's horror exploitation films, classic foreign films, the best zombie flick or which is better, Doctor Who or Battlestar Galactica...awesome!
If you're a gamer and you get off on digging through boxes of loose HeroClix or flipping through Magic Cards looking for that one card that will make your deck unstoppable...welcome!
You see, here at Brainstorm Movies, Comics and Gaming, we welcome all of you. We want you to be yourself and we won't look at you funny because of it! Thus, we are a GEEK SAFE ZONE...even if you're not a geek.
Movies
First, the MOVIES! Sure, there's .. sites that offer this, that and the other latest new release for so many days...blah blah blah. But do they have the Criterion edition of NAKED LUNCH? Or what about the cult classic CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST? They don't offer all the seasons of the British comedy series RED DRAWF? Can't seem to find all the episodes of STRANGERS WITH CANDY? Brainstorm has all those and more! Our selection is constantly evolving. One week we'll get a bunch of black and white classics, then we'll go on an Asian Action binge and follow that up with an ecclectic mix of British comedy and 80's classics. The point is we love movies and we know you love movies and we've seen a lot of movies! So when you ask someone here, 'Is this any good?', chances are we'll be able to give you an answer base on personal experience.
Books
Second is the COMICS. Just about any comic shop you go to offers a pull service and (hopefully) the newest comics and action figures and such. So do we. But this where we break away from the rest of the pack.

Just wanted to say u guys ARE the BEST DAMN COMIC SHOP in chicago. Hands down. Why else would i drive 40 minutes to u guys? Haha..ur welcoming personalities are what will always keep u guys better than the rest. Well, I hope theres a good ending to this situation, and i really hope things work out.
For the record i may not be in every week to pick up like i used to, due to my own personal situations. But u can count on me comin in to pick up...and my pull list will be with u guys till ur doors officially close. Whenever and if ever that may be.

This outdoor festival is FREE to the public, and there is plenty of FREE parking!! There will be food, vendors, music, art, peace, freedom & more. You can even pack a picnic and bring the family out for this annual Chicago event. Located in the heart of Lincoln Park, you will be surrounded by grass, trees, and good people. You will feel the cool summer breeze coming off of Lake Michigan. This event is not to be missed. We perform at 7pm, but be sure to come early for all the other festivities which start @ 2pm
