This is the page for Brainwash Promotions, Leeds promoters of music along the lines of rock/prog/metal/indie/folk/electronic. In other words, anything we like. Agents/tour bookers please email brainwashpromotions@hotmail.com.
Recently, we have put on the likes of Oceansize, Chris Clark, Unsane, Adem, Youthmovies, Jeniferever, Twin Zero, Meet Me In St Louis, Jonquil, We Vs Death... we have also put on most of our favourite artists from Leeds, such as Humanfly, Red Stars Parade, This Et Al, These Monsters, Wintermute, iLiKETRAiNS, Paul Marshall, Vessels, Year Of The Man, Fran Rodgers, Napoleon IIIrd, Randomnumber, The Plight... please listen to our 'top friends'. They're all good.
We have hosted 2 'Brainwash' festivals. These have involved a variety of bands across two venues, over three days. Primarily this festival is about enjoying good music, but we've also managed to raise around £3200 for Oxfam, Weston Park Cancer Appeal and Village Aid.
Speaking of money, we tend to give everything after costs to the bands (unless it's a fundraiser), after all it's them that deserve it. So basically we're non-profit, though occasionally we'll take a bit if the night's gone really well and all the bands have been paid fairly. Sometimes, we are even part of that not-so-exclusive club called the 'pro-loss promoters', who lose the odd penny or two on gigs. It gets soaked up by drying up on the booze for a week or two, but rarely happens these days.
We mainly use the following venues: the Brudenell Social Club (large gigs, the undisputed King of Live Music in Leeds), Upstairs @ the Library (medium gigs) & the Royal Park Cellars (small gigs).
We look after 2 bands, These Monsters and Wintermute (both in our top friends). If you'd like to book either band, get some promo material, or anything else, email us on brainwashpromotions@hotmail.com
We also have a Record Label: www.myspace.com/childrennomorerecords
Children No More has released material by These Monsters, We Vs Death and Wintermute.
We have a compilation due in May 2008.
We also run hire out bookings for Upstairs @ the Library; please don't use this page for that, instead use our email or the myspace in our 'top friends'.
Finally, we might be able to help you out with a PA/Engineer for a small gig at somewhere like the Packhorse. Contact the email or this myspace for that.

iLiKETRAiNS - Upstairs @ the Library... Saturday 21st June... Tickets Available SOON!
Hi folks. The bombardment begins! We have five shows this month, the first of which is mighty exciting!
Supporting his new Asthmatic Kitty LP ’In The Vines’ Raymond Raposa stops by for one of only six UK shows. His wonderful songwriting is awash with trippy electronics and lazy country licks. Twisted country Grandaddy possibly? I dunno, bloody good though! Assisting on the album are a wealth of talented musicians including members of the wonderful Phosphorescent, Jana Hunter and Sufjan Stevens.
Supports are great too.
York ain't so far away! 10 minutes from the station.
Please Please You presents Castanets, Fishing Partners + Red Trees. The Basement, York, Thurs. 8th May, 8pm. £6adv.
yo i dropped off those tickets, think they had 10 left of the old ones although i may be wrong as i was sweating a lot and it was hard to concentrate. p

'..genuine inventive beauty' ORGAN MAGAZINE SINGLE OF THE WEEK
'a stunning addition to the Post-Rock genre, one's to watch!' Subba-cultcha SINGLE OF THE MONTH
'Brenda are certainly trying to redraw the lines between rock and electronic music.. Few bands realise their goals as well as this' 4/5 Manchester Music
'remarkable and a stark reminder to us all that we haven't seen it all before.' 4. 5/5 Gigwise
Easily one of the most important bands of our times (and we don't say that lightly), Stars of the Lid are the highpoint of the ambient genre. Their influence on the music that really matters over the last decade has been huge, and we're incredibly honoured to be hosting them again in Leeds. This gig will be very very different, and very very special. Stars of the Lid have excelled at designing subtle, minimalist epics which sound like they're being played on a single multifaceted organic instrument. A wise man once described SOTL as "divine classical drones without the tedious intrusion of drums, or vocals. "
The Declining Winter is the musical project of Richard Vincent Adams of Leeds UK, the co-founder of the continuing group Hood and a full time stricken office worker. What does it sound like? Richard says "cassette tapes spilling out of the glovebox of a 1970's Datsun Sunny somewhere in the north of England, captured on Super 8 film". He's not far off. Live he is joined by a few more people to bring the beautiful pastoral feel to life. Wonderful stuff.
We just wanted to let you know that zeronic split up because of heavy disputes about nothing.
No, we didn..t. ;-)
Instead we made the record we always wanted to make and we have put 4 songs from our new album 'The price of Zeitgeist' on our MySpace page for you....
