Great rock is visceral. It moves you from the inside outward. The music emotes directly into your gut; your ears are just the most direct pathway there.
Brakelazy makes great rock music. Carlson’s voice captures the fundamental emotion of a song with a genuine passion. The tight rhythm section of Keating/Mackey hits hard and makes bodies move. Swift shows both prowess and restraint on the guitar. But, like all great rock bands, Brakelazy as a whole is more than the sum of its individual parts.
With friendship that has survived high school drama and heartbreak, Brakelazy has a unity and synergy onstage that is undeniable. Originally from North Dakota, the band relocated to the Twin Cities to put a footprint on the midwest music scene.
With songs featured on MTV, ABC, WB, and Nintendo Wii, a new EP recorded at World Record Productions (Lucky Boys Confusion, Quietdrive) & performances with bands like Default, Oleander and Catchpenny, Brakelazy is doing just that.
Introspective but fun. Catchy but thoughtful. Brakelazy is the band that can snap your neck and break your heart all in the same show.
If you're around on Thursday, December 10th, we are playing a show at Mario's Keller Bar. I don't know if you've been there, but it's a very cool place. It's a comfortable space, the room sounds great and they have a stellar beer selection.
Also, we will be playing ALL NIGHT! We'll play some funky, bluesy, and soulful music. We'll project live video onto a 9 ft screen. We'll play some older material that hasn't been heard in awhile, as well as some brand new songs that've never been heard. All bets are off!! We'd love it if you'd come down and listen/party with us!
Here are the details:
Thursday, December 10th Mario's Keller Bar 2300 University Ave NE Minneapolis, MN 55418 9pm / $5 / 18+

I just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy Saturday! May the weekend bring you fun adventures, relaxation, and total contentment :)
I was going to go camping this weekend, but this is definitely NOT camping weather. So me and some friends are gonna go check out Dueling Pianos. Those guys are amazing - they can play just about any song that's been on the radio between 1950 and 2005.
Anyways, I wanted to let you know about a show we have @ Station 4 on Friday, October 16th. We are debuting a series of one time only performance art pieces. This one is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". Live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.
Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. The night will be full of creative, interesting, high-energy music, good drinks and good times.
Here's the info:
