Jason Chaplin performs mainly with Native American Style Flutes, he is also getting into world flutes and end blown flutes such as the Anasazi, Shakuhachi, Hopi and Bansuri. He assists in percussion and creating other sounds for the tracks. Jason handles the majority of the bookings, press releases and finances for the group.
Jeff Gegner Plays Native American Style Flutes extremely well in both traditional styles and jazz/blues. He is an accomplished Guitarist and plays percussion. He is also our sound and recording engineer and sets up the sound when we perform for the best effects possible.
Richard Brooner plays the most diverse instruments in out group, From Native Style Flutes to the Udu, Djembe, hand drum and many other varieties of percussion from around the world. He is an excellent pianist and plays the trumpet as well. He composes his own music and has works out as sound tracks in short films. Truly a very talented addition to Branches Breath.

Influences
I feel the flutes already have the songs in them. It is up to me to be open enough to hear what they have to say, to tell me the songs they have and want to play. Some flutes have 1 song in them, others have dozens. I try to let Nature be my only outside influence and make it a point to sound like nothing else you have ever heard.
Jason

Many influences from Chopin to Miles Davis, Beethoven to Stevie Ray Vaughn.
The flutes are a very expressive instruments. They allow the player to express not only the notes they want but the feeling the player wishes to express. They each have their own tone, their own voice. It's up to us as players to make the sing, or cry, or be silent when necessary.
Jeff

Branches Breath is a three-piece Native American flute musical ensemble that grew from the Indiana Flute Circle— A society of members that collect, play, construct and promote the Native American flute. Our music is a mixture of percussion, spontaneous song, composed melodies with both World and Native Flutes. We enjoy playing Native American Flutes because they are unique in their sound, appearance, and spirit. The focus of Branches Breath is to bring this unique and beautiful instrument to anyone who will hear it because we have seen the positive affect it has had on so many. The music brings a sense of peace and calmness, some may find themselves transported to a woods and hear animals playing or to a mountain range and see eagles flying. Because of this we do our best to play at Pow Wows, multicultural events, peace festivals, health fairs and even dinner receptions. We feel that a gift truly appreciated is a gift shared and if even one person comes away with a better appreciation of the flute from having heard our music then we achieved our goal.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; "Broken-roofed buildings" are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Hello Jason, Jeff, and Richard. Thanks for the friend request. It is an honor for me to add you to my Mypace circle of friends. I liked your song samples. Very enjoyable. I wish I could catch you live at the Eiteljorg. Does the flute circle still meet there? It has been many years since I was a member of the flute circle there. Be well and have fun, John
