Trumpeter Jaimie Branch and drummer Marc Riordan are an active presence on the Chicago music scene. Since meeting at the New England Conservatory of Music in 2001, they have performed together as a duo and in numerous other Chicago based ensembles including Rupert, Fly Trap, Phelt, Nick Broste Quartet, Medium Sized Rabbit, and Branch/Riordan/Sexton. Their duo music incorporates slow, introspective melodies, abstract sound-based approaches, and high density free jazz. They have been presented in a variety of contexts by organizations such as Umbrella Music (Chicago), Bowerbird (Philadelphia), and the Subconscious Cafe series in Cambridge, MA.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING HSK THE FASTEST GROWING CELEBRITY BLOG SO FAR IN 2009
We have a brand new mobile version of HSK available that's designed perfectly for your phones.
It's as easy as typing our web address into your phone's browser; it does the rest! (www.hollywoodstreetking.com)
Each story has a Twitter button as well; so make sure to let everyone else know what's up and spread the word so we can continue to bring you the goods!
Jacky doesn't ask for much, he's a giver; but if everyone reading this tells one other person about what we're doing it would be HUGE!
i will be taking part in a monthly music series this sunday
HOME GROWN MUSIC takes place at the Kimball Ave Evangelical Church at 2324 N. Kimball Ave
there will be 4 performers of which i will be playing second.
i will be performing my usual solo percussion set but have recently added some new goodies to my set up (mainly a small toy piano but also a new contact mic on my bass drum!)
this is an all ages show and there is plenty of room at the back of the church for kids to play and goof off as they tend to do so bring your children or any child you may find laying about that could benefit from a live music experience.
dont worry...this is a non church event (even though it takes place at a church) so no one will be trying to shove dogma down the children's throat or anything like that.
