i have so many passions, it's can be overwhelming at times. but dancing is my soul.
writing is my therapy, a path of poetry connects me to everyone and no one. reading is a porthole to worlds both known and unknown. i make costumes and i am always overdressed. my girlfriends are priority. i sing in places both common and strange. i love things that are beautiful. i like puns and inuendos. i am silly and highly entertaining. i crave inspiration and intelligent conversation. i collect and trade stories. i am very easygoing and love adventure. there is solace in themes and tradition.
spontaneity is a wonderful thing, as long as you schedule it ahead of time.
Music
A wide spectrum depending on inner weather. I am pretty content with many things but here is a list of favorites: Fiona Apple, Placebo, Edie Brickell, the Sundays, Letters to Cleo, Ella Fitzgerald, Blossom Deary, Coheed and Cambria, NOFX, GreenDay, Gym Class Heros, Outkast, Shpongle, Mike Doughty, Nick Drake, Johnny Cash, Peaches, Violent Femmes, Pixies, Radiohead, Matisyahu, Dido, Black Eyed Peas, , Pink, Gnarls Barkley, Cee-Lo, Fall Out Boy, Missy Elliot, Jude, Ween, Tilt, Massive Attack, Michael Jackson, Prince, Nikka Costa, Gorillaz, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Belly, Scissor Sisters, Glenn Miller, Ray Charles, Justin Timberlake (thats right, i admit it, fuck off!), the Raconteurs, Beck, Tenacious D, Pat Benetar, The White Stripes, Lady Sovereign, 7 Year Bitch, Luscious Jackson, Bjork, and so many more that i can't think of...

Movies are like music...it's all about the mood. Generally speaking, I like clever and i love language and my favorites tend to be a of a wee bit darker humor/nature like Garden State, Donnie Darko, Brick, Seven, Heathers, Sin City, Empire Records, Fight Club, Memento, Swing Kids..
movies are great...yeah...
Television
Too little time, too few channels. Don't really care.
Though i have to admit i am a little nerdy inside and like the graphic novel essence of Heros and now i am also a full on Lost addict.
Books
I love books. Not just reading books, but books in general. I have a particular fondness for used books, especially if there is random writings and musings in the margins. Kind of a message in the bottle thing. I have been eternally entranced by the Dark Tower series by Stephen King -i am a believer- also, Herman Hesse, Richard Brautigan,Tom Wolfe, Chuck Palahniuk, Tom Robbins, Allen Ginsberg, Ayn Rand, Anais Nin, Kathe Koja, Nick Bantock, George Orwell, not to mention i am facinated by Bukowski right now (see blog 4) . I am not so much attracted to a certain author as I am the poetry of the words. I have an eclectic collection of books, mostly stories examining the mysteries of human thought and behavior.
I have been a choreographer/performer of jazz/hip hop dance for over 10 years. I have worked with school dance teams, taught classes and workshops, and choreographed and produced two major local productions. I have performed as a backup dancer for
*Miss Angelique DeVil* I forgot how big the sky was here in North Dakota. Posted 44 minutes ago view more
Sugar and spice, naughty and nice- but that is not all she is made of.
Bursting on to the Portland burlesque scene, Miss Angelique DeVil is adding a little pop-n-lock to the bump and grind. Known for her eclectic style of performance, from traditional burlesque to modern-day hip hop, she is quickly becoming one of the Northwest’s most sought after performers.
Dancing since the tender age of four, Angelique DeVil has been trained within the realms of ballet, modern, African, jazz and hip-hop. However, she soon discovered that it when these genres became intertwined and infused that she finds her true choreographic identity. Her travels through Baltimore, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Los Angeles were peppered with go-go gigs and fashion shows- but she laid roots in Eugene, Oregon where she earned her Bachelor of Arts, with a minor in dance, at the University of Oregon. It was here Angelique first started dabbling in burlesque and founded Allure, a hip-hop burlesque dance troupe comprised of four women. Frequently appearing as featured guest performers at John Henry’s Broadway Revue, she knew this was a world she belonged to. Bound for a bigger city and more opportunity as a solo artist, Angelique DeVil moved to Portland on Christmas Day of 2007. Nearly a year would pass before she would stumble upon the biggest opportunity of her career yet. After answering an ad to be a guest performer for a show entitled Carpe Noctem, Angelique auditioned for the Rose City Sirens and SinnSavvy Productions founder, Rayleen Courtney. A month later, whilst performing at Portland’s Offical “L Word” Showtime Season Premiere party, Angelique was introduced as the newest member of the SinnSavvy family.
During the next six months, Angelique DeVil was a regular feature at most of the SinnSavvy productions including: “Mannequin”, “Curvalicious”, “A Night of Noise”, as well as on the coveted Waterfront Main Stage for Portland’s Annual Pride Northwest celebration.
Along Miss Angelique DeVil’s spine lies a tattoo that translates to “illumination”. This is her quest and, as she views it, her responsibility: to inspire and enlighten others. Through her dancing and performance she speaks a language of sensuality, comedy, and gender politics. She sets the stage to have the time of her life… and you’re invited.
