I have been heavily influenced by the guys I've traveled with or befriended on the road so far. I wouldn't be where I am without everyone helping me along the way!
Thanks for checking out my profile! I am a musician from Falmouth, KY. I have been playing my primary instrument, the fiddle, since I was 10-years-old. I started out playing in square dance halls around the Northern Kentucky area. I progressed and started playing with bands around the Cincinnati, tri-state area.
I have had 6 official teachers: Blanche Coldiron (Old-time instrumentalist and Kentucky Country Music Hall of Fame member from Eastern Kentucky who travelled with Asa Martin and the Kentucky Hillbillies), Jeff Guernsey (Former fiddler for Steve Warner and Vince Gill), Daniel Carwile (Grand Master Fiddle Champion, nashville studio musician), Christina Harke-Towell (IU and CCM graduate, violin teacher at Morehead State University), Paul Patterson (CCM graduate, and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Violinist), and Glenn Ginn (CCM and North Texas University graduate, jazz guitar proffessor at Morehead State University). My unofficial teacher for many years was Harold Zimmerman, an old-time fiddler from Northern Kentucky.
I currently live in Nashville, TN, pursuing my music career. Aside of playing, I am studying violin repair and setup and teaching privately.
I have performed with numerous bluegrass bands (The Comet Bluegrass Allstars, The Side Porch Gang, Steve Bonafel and One Iota, and Jenny Lynn), western swing and classic country bands (The New Radio Cowboys), a gypsy jazz quartet (Sasha Strunjas), and a contemporary christian band. I have also performed solo at churches, funerals, and community functions. I have performed with bands such as Melvin Goins & Windy Mountain, The Wildwood Valley Boys, Don Rigsby & Midnight Call, Wildfire, Blue Moon Rising, Tim Graves & Cherokee, The Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show, Dave Peterson & 1946, and NewFound Road.
Since May 22, 2008, I've been a member of the award winning Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. I feel honored to be a part of this group. It is truly a one of those gigs that every musician works towards getting. Checkout our scheduele at www.doylelawson.com.
A clip of "Fire on the Mountain" with KSBC. I believe this was one of my first shows with them during Bean Blossom of 2006.
A clip from my first show with NewFound Road at SPBGMA 2008.
This is a celtic flavored tune I wrote called "Brewer's Dance." The video is from The Down Home in Johnson City, TN. April 2008.
Thanks for joining our circle of friends, and thanks for helping to keep Redd's legacy alive! Billy & Sharon www. reddstewart. com (Pee Wee King and his Golden West Cowboys)
Uh, yeah....several. I know I got your fiddle tune and 2-3 others. Y'all probably look like yellow blobs though since I was pretty far back during y'alls set. I'll let ya know when they're up and running!!
glad you all had fun :) Never been to the Fiddlers' Convention in Galax, but we've been seeing DL&Q at Fairview Ruritan Building since I was 2 (1992 lol).
Yeah, Paige sent me a text and told me y'all were there :)
I may see you soon. Check and see if "North Georgia Bluegrass Fest Univ. Chevrolet & Comm Bank" is happening Aug. 22. It's on Darren's page, but not DLQ page. If it is happening, we'll see you there!!
Just stopping by to let you know that you can tune into World Wide Bluegrass tomorrow Friday, August 1st, 2008 at 1 pm Eastern, 10 am Pacific (and 10 pm if you're in Uzbekistan). We will be giving a live interview with the amazing Gracie Muldoun.
We will be in the World Wide Bluegrass chat room after the interview as well.
I am doing great! Actually, could you tell all the guys that I rededicated my life to Christ last week?! I am working my last week of camp. I hope to see all of you soon.
Hey Brandon! How's it going? I hope all is well. I hate to bug Josh again, so could you ask him to send me those pictures. Thank you. Tell him I am sorry, but I have to have pictures every year.
Well, to be perfectly honest, not great. I've had some curve balls thrown at me with work and school, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right?? I'm in the process of working it all out and once I do things will be much better!
Hope things are going great with DLQ. I have to tell you...those yellow shirts y'all wore out west, WOWSERS. That's a crazy get up y'all had there :)
It was SO good to see you in Cherokee & Morganton. It was an honor meeting you in Cherokee! You are fitting in so well with DL&Q and I know you are gonna be fine! You all sounded amazing at both places! WAY TO GO!
Thanks for taking the time to have your picture made with me! I appreciate you taking the time to do that!
