Originally from Florida, Brandon Mayer moved to California with his family during high school. He went on to study music and documentary film at UCLA. After living in Spain and New York, he returned to California and, while working as a schoolteacher, made the beautiful full-length "Sea of Stars," which was self-released in the fall of 2000, soon after followed by the EP "Palm Tree and Culver."
As an ensemble and solo artist, Mayer has toured and performed extensively. Also a composer, he has written music for theater and films that have been broadcasted on television and performed/screened at festivals throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. A collaboration with producer David Rosa and a collection of LA-Oakland based musicians, Brandon Mayer & the Hidden Powers have recently completed a new full-length recording "Nothing Without Love," which will be released in summer 2007. Mayer lives and works as a teacher in Los Angeles; he also serves as a music lecturer at UCLA.

Congratulations, Brandon, on the release of your CD. I wish I could have been there to celebrate. A toast has been said in your honor in Astoria. I cannot wait to own my own copy of the album!

Do you remember that scene from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas when, what's his name...Duke or Thompson, woke up in the hotel room half burned down and was all tied up in an alligator suit and the whole place was trashed and flooded... You remember after he did all that weird human adrenaline, adrenochrome...
Well... Uhmm, I hope your tour went well and are in happy spirits! Take your time driving back... Please
Brandon rocks... I heard him practicing earlier. His show tonight is going to be great. I'll share a secret with everyone... there is nothing better than to wake up and hear Brandon practicing in the other room every morning. Rich people pay for that kind of luxury!
