"With the burnished hush of intimate vocals, Brandon Schott evokes a sunny intimacy that belies a wistful emotional complexity. The title of his CD, Golden State, says it best as the lyrics map mythic byways of promise and possibility across the melodic horizons of classic Southern California songcraft." -Dan Kimpel
One of Music Connections's Hot 100 Artists 3 years running, indie pop troubadour Brandon Schott returns with his 2nd record, GOLDEN STATE, a new collection of gems that evoke a bygone era when vinyl records and songcraft were king. While the album takes the listener on a warm hearted musical journey through Brandon's adopted home of California, he's clearly also inspired by his 8 years living as a youth in England with the album's subtle Brit-pop influences.
Golden State was produced by Brandon along with engineer Jason Wormer (who has worked with artists such as T-Bone Burnett, Josh Rouse, Ricky Lee Jones and Josh Ritter), and also features the talents of Ramy Antoun (Seal), Jay Bellarose (Joe Henry, Sam Phillips), Rob Shapiro (Populuxe), Steve Barton, Jake Posner (The Breakups, Edison Gower) & Steven Wilson (Plasticsoul).
The album was released on August 14, 2007 with national distribution through Burnside Distriution, and digitally on iTunes on May 15th, 2007. During the summer of 2007 Brandon embarked on a 10 day U.K. tour - his first return trip back since moving away as a teen. Dates included shows in London, Oxford and the prestigious Cavern Club in Liverpool as part of the International Pop Overthrow Festival.
In September, Brandon launched the record at the Bordello Bar with a massive CD release party featuring his band, a string section and a choir. On November 13, 2007, Brandon released his first holiday single, WINTER IN THE SUN - comprised of multiple sections with varying colors and tones, the single celebrates Brandon's home state with an infectious ambition and spirit. Yo Ho Ho...
How's stuff? We're cooking along into June now & got some out of town
shows lined up for summer, but as far as this crazy town's concerned-
looks like Old Towne Pub is the place. We just can't seem to stay away
from that sweet lil hole. We're playing there this Thursday with some
friend bands and plan to pack the place for some freaky-cool times &
beer. Come out already! It will RAWK & then you can go back to life as
usual with some spring in your thing.
Yarrrr!!!!!!
