The band exists out of the following six musicians: Jasper Braet (elektronica), Pieter Delaere (saxophone), Hannes Verstraete (french horn), Jozefien Watté (violin), Liesemarie Beelaerts (violoncello) and Sanne Deprettere (contrabas).

The main point of branie is picture material. Music is composed at chosen pictures. Music is written separately by several members or in group, but branie sticks that moments of pure improvisation are also frequently inserted.

The compositions are based on the pictures, but the music is no litteral translation of what takes place in the movie. The two components remain separate of intrinsic value, but nevertheless form an entity. We're convinced that music can strongly influence the interpretation of a picture and vice-versa. They can reinforce, take the edge off and even modify each other's meaning. Therefore there is played consciously with the interaction between music and picture.
Because of this there arises also an interaction between what takes place on the stage and public. The witnesses will make own links between the pictures and music; links which were not insinuated explicitly and/or that takes place purely at chance (this certainly at moments of pure improvisation).

Branie strives to create an original consonance spectrum. The largest proof of this is of course uniting traditional instruments (two wind instruments and three strings) with elektronica. The elektronica uses the direct taken recordings of the acoustic instruments and will work with this, but adds also new sound material. Traditional instruments and elektronica stand beside each other and have the same value. Computer becomes therefore a full instrument. The eventual result is a symbiosis of both groups.

The small films are selected in film files or at individuals. We also cooperate with film artist Land Van Wynsberge .
